waterfront: LAKE ANNA IS GREAT FOR KAYAKING - 07/28/13 08:20 AM
Lake Anna is great for kayaking...So great that my kids are urging me to do it. So far I have not but I am really tempted and have been looking at kayaks.
My son, Marc, is enjoying the sport as are other members of our family. Everyone that has tried it loves it and wants to continue doing it.

Marc Kayaking at Lake Anna
Now if I felt as comfortable and confident as Marc does I would probably be out on Lake Anna right now kayaking. But I am still toying with the idea. In fact I even ventured into … (0 comments)

waterfront: LAKE ANNA BUYERS AND SELLERS...Do You Know About Our Referral System? - 07/22/13 12:28 PM
Lake Anna Buyers and Sellers...do you know about our referral system? That's right, REALTORS® around the world have a referral system that we all honor. It was put in place to make it easy and yet benefiicial for REALTORS® to help friends and family find a fellow REALTOR® in another location. By doing this the buyer and/or seller has the opportunity to work with a local REALTOR® that knows the real estate market they are moving to or away from.
Here is an example of how it works. Mr. and Mrs. Smith have decided that they would like to look at … (5 comments)

waterfront: The THRILLS & CHILLS of RELOCATING...Local LAKE ANNA REALTOR® Needed - 07/22/13 06:54 AM
The thrills and chills of relocating...local Lake Anna REALTOR® needed. To truly understand what is involved means you've done it yourself. Unless you have picked yourself up and moved away from all that you know...and everyone that knows you, it is hard to understand the impact relocating can have. This is often especially hard when there are school age children in the family. This becomes a big area of concern for not only the parents but the youngsters as well.
To help families purchase in a new location Local REALTORS® can, and often do, provide an invaluable service. We are looked to as the … (2 comments)

waterfront: Who Would Have Known I'd Love Real Estate this Much - 04/21/13 09:05 AM
Who would have known that I'd love real estate this much. I certainly did not! Yes I knew I would find it interesing but little did I know that it would be so much more.  For far longer than I like to remember friends had suggested to me that I think about getting into real estate.  Well, I had thought about it.  Many times but I always felt that it would have too much of a negative impact on my family.  Now I'm talking back in the seventies and early eighties.  Not quite the dark ages but that was quite a … (2 comments)

waterfront: SEAN & LINDY ON THE DOCK ENJOYING LAKE ANNA - 04/20/13 12:17 PM
Whenever Sean, my oldest grandchild, comes to be with us I lose my shadow.  Lindy, my pup, follows me from room to room whenever I am home.  However, once Sean arrives Lindy deserts me.  As much as I miss my shadow I love to see how happy and content they are together.  Sean is definitely an animal lover and Lindy senses that.
Naturally, when Sean spends some time down by the water, Lindy is right there with her. I caught this picture of the two of them while I was up at the house. In order to get such a closeup I had … (4 comments)

waterfront: SELLERS...DON'T KEEP PROSPECTIVE BUYERS IN THE DARK - 01/11/13 12:58 PM
Sellers...Don't keep prospective buyers in the dark.  I just finished reading (and commenting) on a blog by a great Colorado REALTOR, Belinda Spillman. She covered the importance of having lights on in your home when it is being shown to prospective buyers. That made me think of another helpful tip for sellers in the Lake Anna area and everywhere else for that matter.
Please let the daylight in!
I cannot tell you the number of times that I have rushed around a house, generally falling behind my clients, as I tried to open
up blinds, curtains, or shades only to find … (2 comments)

waterfront: At Lake Anna...An Office with a View - 12/14/12 08:11 AM
Lake Anna an office with a view is the next best thing to a home with a view of the lake.  Fortunately I am lucky to have both.  Since returning to Dockside Realty over two years ago I've had the opportunity to work from an office with a view of Lake Anna.  My office is at the back of our building and looks out at the lake by the bridge which crosses the water by Rt. 208.  The office itself is located next to High Point Marina so as I look out the window I often see boats being launched or … (13 comments)

waterfront: One More Day on Lake Anna - 10/07/12 09:34 AM
The fall season is showing us that it is definitely here but there are still days that seem like summer.  When we have those days it is the perfect time to once again get out on the lake.  The wonderful thing is that days like this come along quite frequently.  Now that's not to say they will all feel like summer but sunny days with the temperature in the 50's even in the midest of winter will find the boating and definitely the fishing lover out on the water.
Every day at the lake is another happy day for many of … (3 comments)

waterfront: Barn Raising vs. LAKE ANNA Boat Shelter Raising - 10/07/12 07:43 AM
In farm country there is such a thing as "barn raising".  Well, at Lake Anna we have our own thing.  It is called "boat shelter raising" and right now we have one going up at our waterfront.  It has been fun to watch.  Actually it was fun deciding on what I wanted...EVERYTHING.  That's not really accurate.  I don't want everything but I certainly do want a dock that will be large enough for big family gatherings.  In our family that can easily number 20+ so it best have run enough for that.
Our old dock was not adequate and has not … (0 comments)

waterfront: Something Was Calling Me Down to the Dock - 05/11/12 11:27 AM
Something was calling me down to the dock.  I'm going to share a photo and perhaps you'll be able to quess what.

Come on Down!
It really didn't take much coaxing.  Today was another gorgeous day here at Lake Anna and what better way to enjoy it than simply relaxing down on the dock.  Glancing out the window and seeing the gorgeous blue water and with a little encouragement from my granddaughter, Sean, I was more than ready to take it easy and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful breeze this afternoon.
Selling real estate at Lake Anna means that I … (11 comments)

waterfront: Living is Good in The Waters at Lake Anna - 05/02/12 06:45 AM
Living is good in The Waters at Lake Anna.  Located on the private side of Lake Anna, The Waters as it is commonly referred to, is the first subdivision at the lake to have a community pool and club house.  These amenities, along with the tennis courts, walking trails, and soccer field, make this a very popular spot for buyers.
The entrance to The Waters is on Kentucky Springs Road (Route 652) and is recognizable by its white rail fence and signage.   With land encompassing both sides of Kentucky Springs Road, The Waters is one of the largest subdivisions on Lake … (2 comments)

waterfront: HAVING FUN ON LAKE ANNA - 10/23/11 02:53 PM
Although there are many ways to have fun on Lake Anna one of my favorite things to do is taking pictures.  Yes, I hate being on the boat without my camera.  There is no doubt that there will be many, many things I'll see that I want to capture to look at over and over again.
Granted the things of interest to me are often houses and boat houses but that may not be so strange for a Realtor®.  Every time I'm out on the water I notice at least one house I haven't noticed before.  It may be a brand … (7 comments)

waterfront: Are Your Plans for a Home at Lake Anna on Hold for the Holidays? - 12/20/10 03:40 PM
Are Your Plans for a Home at Lake Anna on Hold for the Holidays?  With all the shopping and preparations involved in getting ready for Christmas and New Years there's little time to think of other things.  Even things that are as exciting as a new home at Lake Anna.
Once the holidays are behind us though, the timing will be right for the search to move forward.  Some buyers think that they'll wait until May or June to begin looking.  However, the earlier you start the better off you will be.  Many begin their search in the January-February time frame … (2 comments)

waterfront: Top 10 Reasons to Buy at Lake Anna NOW - 05/25/09 11:08 AM
A MESSAGE TO BUYERS Top Ten Reasons to Buy at Lake Anna NOW
Interest rates are still very, very low. Prices have come down considerably. Who knows when they may go up again.  Lake Anna continues to be an area that is growing. Inventory is beginning to decrease.  Look while you have ample choices. Real estate taxes are definitely reasonable in all three counties around the lake. There is a finite amount of water-oriented property, especially waterfront.  Lake Anna still has not been widely discovered...yet.  Quality builders are here to assist you with your special home. Lake Anna provides a fun-filled … (10 comments)

waterfront: Patience Pays in Real Estate - 04/15/09 03:39 PM
In January I received a call from someone that currently had his home on the market.  The listing was going to expire the end of February and I was asked if I would be interested in listing it after it expired.  I replied that the house was priced too high but that yes I was interested in working with the owners.
The caller's name sounded very familiar to me and I was certain that I had worked with him and his wife  briefly some time ago.  Sure enough, he told me that back in the Spring of 2004 they had spoken with me and … (25 comments)

waterfront: Rain, Rain Don't Go Away - 04/14/09 12:42 PM
Do you find that you are sometimes resenting these rainy, cloudy days?  March and April, here in the Lake Anna area, have been somewhat rainy.  I'm loving it.
We have had a number of rainy, cloudy days and I'm delighted.  Someone complained to me about it today and I replied that we need every drop of rain we can get.  We had almost no snow this winter with the one and only bonafide snowfall happening on March 1.
Living at a lake, a drought creates not only the usual problems with water shortage, it drops the water level and we end up with … (3 comments)

The other morning a received an e-mail.  There had been a comment on a post I wrote last July, Lake Anna, VA...No Sharks, No Jellyfish & No Flood Insurance.  I love it when, out of the blue, a post reappears.
