I heard that spoken recently on one of those reality TV shows about a homeowner turning his single family into a duplex in order for the home to actually pay all or most of his mortgage. This could be a good idea, depending upon the cost of contruction and the ultimate rental amount the homewoner will receive for his efforts. Of course this should be well calculated beforehand.
