We Are Getting Away From Our Roots Only IF We Choose To...

Michael, I love your defense. (I'm sorry, that is one of the ugliest cats I have ever seen. And, I love felines.) Keep up the great work.
Hi Michael:
Looks like the kitty is about to sneeze!
I read Matt's and Richard's posts about this subject.
I'm for posting all types of posts...I like variety!
Good morning Michael, wow, what a picture!
I understand google juice, or google milk as I prefer to call it. HOWEVER, AR is a social network. Sometimes I just want to share, without "milking" the post for all it's worth.
For those who don't like the just pictures posts, move on! I like them. :D
I have to run, I will come back and look at the other posts later on.
Michael- I have to agree with the other who commneted above- definitely a "social network" and folks just do no need to click if they so choose- puttng the info on the bottom is smart!
I have never posted one of those speechless type posts. Perhaps it is because I am rarely speechless. But I do enjoy looking at the creative (and sometimes amusing) photos. Link on!
I don't put up wordless posts, but I'm sure it's because I'm not a very good photographer. I do enjoy looking at many of the pictures here on the Rain and always stop to comment on any that jumped out at me.
I think your kitty is adorable!
Michael, posting various topics whether it is real estate related or just a photo is what makes ActiveRain. Although photography is one of my hobbies, I like looking at the photos. The Kitten definitely has something to say about this too.
I don't think it should matter much what others choose to do on their blogs.
There are blogs that are all photos. You gotta use tags and titles to make the search engines see them. I don't really understand the Wordless Wednesday, Speechless Sunday posts to talk to one another.
I have posted 2 Wordless Wednesday and one Speechless Sunday, posting local content, not looking for comments from other ActiveRain members. I planned on doing one today but have not got around to it.
I don't really think those who SPAM themselves with long contact info on a Wordles post are acting in the spirit of the premise of Wordless Wednesday but that is not my problem.
Michael...
As you know, I post a lot of photos myself, always supported by text .... but I think much of the argument is about points.
I think that many use the so called wordless posts with just enough ownership information to get the 225 points as a way of avoiding the actual work of writing a post.
When you compare the amount of work involved to that to a Lenn Harley post, well. there is no comparison.
And as you and I both know, being in the 300K club, the points do matter!
ditto to "I think that many use the so called wordless posts with just enough ownership information to get the 225 points as a way of avoiding the actual work of writing a post."
but I heartily disagree with "And as you and I both know, being in the 300K club, the points do matter!"
Points what are they good for? Absolutely nothing. Content is what counts.
Michael,
I get lots of comments on mine, often from people who never comment on blogs, or mine at least. I do them wordless but do not consider them part of my ten blogs per week. They lead to two or three more posts, depending on what I choose.
Micheal, I thought that was the beauty and main concept of A/R is to have a variety of groups for different interest's for different individuals.
There are subjects here on A/R on just about anything, anybody, that are very interesting with leaving to other site.
A/R has attracted a very special group of individuals, first of all the respect and professionalism among it's members, for the most part. Real Estate is the primary reason. But the talent that many individuals bring here is unmatchable to many other sites, Some are great writers, story tellers, artists, musicians, photographers, humorous, Geek techs, and etc..................... you get the picture.
A/R is dealing with the masses, not everybody is going to like everything, but for the most part it doesn't get any better than this.

Michael, I would add to what Steve said with the idea that sometimes you can get so much more by giving away something totally for free. I make it a point to every week on AR to ignore Google all together at least once:)
A face only a mama could love... the kitten that is. Great post!I haven't done one of those riders at the bottom of a post. Is that something you just copy and paste in there each time you blog? Cheers,
Amy, Yes. I have a boiler plate that I use on each post. Keeps me from having to re-invent the wheel every time...
I do want to thank each and every one of you for your comments to this post. The answers were just as diverse as the rain itself. I always find it interesting to get feedback on subjects such as this...
Michael - I personally like the pictures. In my view, I would rather have just a picture, than just words.
Michael, I'd say your picture is a yawn above the others! I'd rather see kittens than mountains!!
Hi Mike—Just like anything else we all have our own opinion about how people utilize their blogs on AR. Personally I enjoy the diversity, as well as, the social networking aspect of AR. I also realize that points and a competitive spirit play a part as well as we build our business and professional relationships.
I post regularly to Wordless Wednesday and Speechless Sunday and it is not for easy points. I do it because I enjoy it... and other people do too or they wouldn't return time and again to see what I've posted. As for it being an easy way out for a post... I disagree with that since I know how long it takes for me to shoot a decent photo. I carry my camera with me almost everywhere I go. Sometimes I do get lucky and capture something on the fly. However, I've also spent hours in a gale force wind in freezing temperatures to capture a worthwhile image. The investment of photo equipment, time, gas, processing, etc. does not make posting a photo a snap!
As with any profession, photography is not an easy craft (or art) to conquer. We only have to look at the results between an amatuer photographer shooting properties with that of a real estate photographer... the differences are stark and apparent for all to see.
Sorry for the long post, but this one got me on my soap box. Thanks for getting us rolling on this subject... have a great week!
I'm a man of few many words, so I had to resort to WWW (Wordless Wednesday with Words) and SST (Speechless Sunday with Text). Solves my problem.
