"Last year, Okaloosa County Public Works Employees helped raise $16,000 in support of the American Heart Association and we hope exceed that goal this year," stated Environmental Services Manager Cindy Halsey. The American Heart Association estimates that each day, more than 95 percent of Americans who suffer cardiac arrest die before reaching the hospital.
The Association has recognized the county as a leader in its efforts to save lives from sudden cardiac arrest through its numerous public safety programs and its aggressive county-wide Automated External Defibrillator (AED) program. Okaloosa County also holds the distinction of the first county in the State to receive the Heart Ready Award, and is currently the only county in the State to receive the honor for three consecutive years.
Contact Cindy Halsey, Donald Kearney or Ruby Wellman at 850.651.7394 or B.J. Thomhave at 682.2012 for registration information. Additionally, feel free to email chalsey@co.okaloosa.fl.us for the registration form.
