Get Ready to Ride the WAVE Trolley
Get ready to "Ride the WAVE" trolley in its inaugural ride on Friday, April 6, 10:00 a.m., at the Emerald Coast Conference Center. The trolley, funded by a grant, is one of two that will take riders to downtown Ft. Walton Beach and Okaloosa Island. For routes, maps, fares or additional information about Okaloosa County Transit (OCT), visit our web site and select Public Transit in top menu at www.co.okaloosa.fl.us or call 850.833.9168 in Ft. Walton Beach, or 850.689.7809 in Crestview.
Senior Driver Trainer Jimmy Bobbitt was recently selected as the Driver of the Quarter by the Okaloosa County Transit. A retired United States Air Force Veteran, Mr. Bobbitt has been employed with Okaloosa County Transit since October 2001. The selection criteria for Driver of the Quarter incorporate not only his personal work ethic and compliance to OCT policies and procedures, but also vehicle operation, accurate, legible record keeping and more.
OCT now offers public transportation for every citizen of Okaloosa County, and connections have expanded to include routes between Ft. Walton Beach and Crestview. Not only can you avoid inflated gasoline expenses, but when you use public transit, you help our community and the environment by easing traffic congestion and reducing harmful emissions. WAVE buses and trolleys are wheelchair accessible and are equipped with bicycle carriers. OCT hours of service are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and bus fare is 50 cents and senior and disabled passengers ride for 25 cents. Additional funding is provided through the Florida Department of Transportation and Okaloosa County.
