Ginger - This sounds like a wonderful trip to take!  Even the name "Snow Train" sounds intriguing.

Thanks for commenting Susan.  This trip was on our bucket list and now one more "must-do" is checked-off. Don't know what they call this ride in the summer?

Hi Kathy...the bucket always seems to be full.  As one adventure is completed, I always add another.  We've been fortunate in being able to do many of the things that we've always dreamed of doing.  Thanks for stopping and commenting!   CHEERS!

Ginger ~ Sounds like you had some fun on that snow train!  I love the Tahoe area any time of year .... we traded homes with another family there one summer and had a great time.

Hi Maureen, it was fun and relaxing.  On the return trip I-80 was actually closed for a period of time and we just chugged on through.  The only snafu is that Amtrak rarely runs on time.  Thanks for always helping me out with comments.

Rick thanks for commenting.  I know that you can pick up the train even closer to Greenbrae but Sacramento is a timely starting place with fewer stops than they make in the valley.  It was a party for our large group and no one had to be the designated driver....(-:

Hi Cyndee, it is a lively, fun place.  On Saturday it was filled with personalities in 1850's period costumes.  Dancin', drinkin' and good cheer!  Thanks for commenting.
