This is a post about Lake Oswego -- Homes for sale in Lake Oswego and other interesting things. Lake Oswego is an area located near the Metro Portland hub. It is a manmade lake, which came about during the age when the area was being used to mine iron. The smelt was run off into the lake. That was MANY YEARS AGO!! There are NO iron plants in the area, and the lake has been converted into recreational use many, many years ago. In times past, many "city" dwellers purchased small parcels as vacation or weekend get aways, and the 15 miles from Downtown Portland made it desireable.
Now Lake Oswego is a vibrant, high demand area.
Lake Oswego maintains it's own city, fire department and school district.
Near enough to downtown Portland, but separate and clearly a city in its own right, Lake Oswego is distinct and it's clear why it is one of Metro Portland's PREMIERE neighborhoods. A very good mix of established estates, eclectic condos, vibrant community, active recreation and pure charm.

Lake Oswego has it all. Even its own lake -- hence the "Lake" part of Lake Oswego -- where boating, swimming, fishing and paddle boats are favorite activities. Property owners may have "lake rights" built into their deer, and if near enough to the Lake, they may have mooring slips. Other properties has "access rights." But who cares?!? The Williamette River offers
Little known fact; Lake Oswego has a sub-division planned by a J.R.R. Tolkien aficionado. I'm not making this up, there is: Hobbit Ct., Rivendell Dr., Lothlorien Way, Hillshire Way are actual streets names -- and it's a gorgeous area. Click here to read further.
