Luxury at a Fraction of the Price

By
Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty of California, Inc. CA DRE #01490977

This could be your yachtLuxury comes with a price, typically a steep one. Not everything that is pricey will be considered luxurious, but in general the two go hand in hand. Does this mean you can buy a multi-million dollar luxury home at a fraction of the price? Probably not.

But you can have luxury at a fraction of the price.

How?

Fractional ownership provides consumers with a means to have luxury items for less money, and perhaps when full-ownership does not make the most sense from a financial or usage standpoint. It has been a common means of owning real estate for years.

Take yachts, for example. If you are not one to use a yacht regularly, dockage is a problem, or if you simply do not want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars, or millions, to acquire a yacht, then fractional ownership may be the solution. In the west coast/San Diego area, you might investigate Sea Net Company (located in Newport Beach) to see what options will suit your needs.

If you are in the San Diego area an simply would like to charter a yacht for a day for friends, family or employees, contact San Diego Prestige in La Jolla.

Or what about a second or third home for vacations or business use. Private residence clubs have become very popular with the affluent and major hoteliers offer these all over the county and around the world.

Here in San Diego you can belong to a private residents club at the Four Seasons Aviara in Carlsbad.

Or how about a private residents club in Italy? The Palazzo Tornabuoni offers luxury living and a centuries-old beautifully restored palace with amazing amenities, located on the most fashionable street in Florence.

The resort villas at La Costa Resort and Spa in the La Costa area of Carlsbad are whole-ownership condos, but may only be used on a fractional basis (120 days per year) and the rest of the time may be rented for an income producing investment. These condos are very popular and have been selling well in each phase of development. Want more information? Let me know.

Need a jet for business or pleasure but don't want the hassle of owning one? Fractional ownership of a jet can be a good way to meet your transportation needs, especially if they are sporadic or more part-time, without investing a large sum of money to buy a jet, hire a pilot, pay for maintenance, and so on. Del Mar Jet is a fractional ownership company providing such services in the local area. Other companies providing similar services include Flex Jet, Net Jets, and Fly Private.

Leasing and chartering are other similar options for those not wanting to own a jet for personal or business use. Schubach Aviation in the San Diego area has a great reputation for jet charter services out of Palomar Airport right here in Carlsbad.

So what else can you own on a fractional basis - well, the list is growing. Vineyards, race horses, luxury vehicles and coaches, sports (like private golf club memberships and polo) and more are some of the luxury items one can acquire. Art is also available in this manner, and in a twist for art collectors, owners may donate a percentage of their ownership to museums and still enjoy the masterpiece in their home for much of the year.

Fractional Lifepresents a host of opportunities for those willing to spend the money. Here, San Diego Prestige also offers a range of programs allowing for uses of luxury cars (want to drive a Lamborghini, Ferrari or Aston Martin for a day?). Not quite the same as a partial ownership but another option to consider.

Do you covet an expensive diamond necklace? Check out another fractional ownership site.

So you can have luxury at the fraction of the price - it just depends on what you desire.

George- yep, that could be nice. If I could be in the Caribbean now and then, or the Mediterranean I would be pretty happy. :) Thanks for your comment.

LOL, Jeff. If I HAD to choose, I would take the lambo too! Or perhaps a masserati (our neighbor has one - fully owned) and loves it). Thanks for the comments.

Hmmmm?  I can't make up my mind.  Right now, I'd like a fractional ownership husband.  The honey do list is growing whiskers! Guess I'll just have to call the handyman again.

Fractionals make a lot of sense when you really don't use something (house, yacht, etc) very often.
