The oil spill is beyond tragic, but the media is in its true fasion making matters worse. By listening to the cable news networks, you would think that our Florida beaches are filled with oil, that our sugary white sand has turned black. Just yesterday, my wife returned from the gym and told me of a coversation with a woman who works at the Chamber of Commerce. The poor lady couldn't wait to leave work, as the telephones did not stop ringing. Those calls were all from people inquiring as to the state of our beach. They had heard that oil was flooding in. Thankfully, this is not the case. Fort Myers Beach, Florida, is clear, as are all of the beaches in Southern Florida.
There seems to be some success over the last couple of days with dealing with the spill. We can all only hope that the oil will be cut off without affecting more areas. We can only hope that the the damage to Louisiana and areas around the spill can be cleaned up and that any damage to the ecosystem can be reversed in time. At this moment, I am not interested in hearing about what BP did wrong. I'm only interested in their righting their wrongs, and quickly.
