Inspired by Seth godin's blog post today - Goodbye to the office
Seth offers some great reasons to hang out at the office. Of course, that's where all the tools of the trade are . . . and other professionals who you can around with and "talk shop" and share tips and peddle your listings . . . and perhaps participate some good old fashioned "coffee pot gossip" along with a healthy dose of whining and complaining.
All of that has its place and certainly adds validity to having an office and going there to work.
Seth makes the point that There's always another side of the coin though . . .
There's this great big and wonderful world "Out there" away from the office.
and in this technologically advanced world, we can work effectively from ANYWHERE. I'm typing this in an empty mall (my morning office when the weather is unfriendly outside), else I would be in the middle of the local park. My wireless broadband lets me work from ANYWHERE, and i get to see and meet new and interesting people ALL day.
There is different kind of juicy energy outside of your office just waiting for you to plug in.
Your local association of REALTORS offers 100s or 1000s of new and interesting folks to share ideas.
Networking with agents outside your own firm adds a fabulous flavor to your cauldron.
Random encounters with people you haven't seen for a while happens when you're working from a bench at the mall or the park or the zoo or the local coffee shop.
You might actually get more exercise and feel healthier being OUTSIDE more and inside less.
I find that meetings and appointments come easier when I'm already out of the office.
Try it . . . I think you'll like it.
I can tie REAL results to this practice of being out of the office more.
My office is my "well" . . . I go back there when I'm thirsty for "all that"
I'm just sayin'
Best,
b
