The weather in Houlton Maine could not have been any more picture perfect for the 15th annual Northern ME Soap Box Derby Race.
Downhill kit car gravity racers in two divisions, stock and super stock enjoyed plenty of sunshine, a slight breeze.
As heat by heat, down thru the race brackets a final set of local youth were selected to head west to Ohio.
Representing the state of Maine this year in the race in July in Akron will be in the stock division Olivia White and in super stock Sarah Bouchard, both from the town of Houlton ME.
Working on the video edit and will post soon but in the meantime, some photos of the event that went smoothly. Thanks to the lots of race volunteers, an engineered derby hill, and a great bunch of kids from as far away as Brunswick, Bangor, etc. The bulk of the 41 drivers from Aroostook County, around the Houlton Maine area.

They helps load cars, rotate wheels and had as much fun as the racers remembering downhill racing in this Houlton Maine program. Had two kids win this race and head to Akron Ohio.
