Arizona Home Improvement Choices

Home improvement projects or renovations are completed on an Arizona home for one of two reasons, either for investment purposes or to enhance the lives of those who live in the home. When projects are chosen for the homeowner's enjoyment it is necessary to understand that the money spent on the improvement may not be recouped when the AZ home is sold. When choosing improvements meant to enhance the value of a home then it is necessary to understand what projects give the most return as well as what projects will not recoup much money, if any at all.

A recent article from Investopedia points out six home projects that don't give a return for the money spent. These projects are:

  • Swimming pool
  • Overbuilding for the neighborhood your home is in
  • Extensive landscaping
  • High-end upgrades
  • New carpet/wall-to-wall carpet
  • Invisible improvements

Unfortunately there is no magic wand when it comes to remodeling an Arizona home. A home owner should do what he wants with the understanding that what he puts into a project may not be returned. All home improvements are subjective. For example, while adding a swimming pool to a home in Milwaukee may not add any value, it could very well enhance the value of a home in Florida.

If adding value to your home is important, take the time to research Arizona real estate market and talk to an Arizona Realtor, such as Gina McKinley, about what is selling and what home enhancements are most popular in the Phoenix and Scottsdale areas.
