Best to Retire

St. Augustine, Florida has been named by Smart Money magazine as one of the nine "best new places to retire" according to an article by Peter Guinta in today's St. Augustine Record. It states that in order to qualify, a city must not only be a great place, but it must also be affordable. These nine cities are "less well-known, less crowded and less expensive." We've known just how wonderful St. Augustine is for quite some time, but now it's be recognized by the personal financial magazine published by the Wall Street Journal. There's a lifestyle to suit just about anyone, including beach, golf and equestrian communities. The city boasts a unique historical significance, wide sandy beaches, vibrant art and educational communities, terrific restaurants, great shopping, and so much more. The citizens are warm and welcoming. Our school district is number one in the state. Our hospitals are highly rated, and in fact, the county (St. Johns) has been "one of the top two healthiest counties in Florida."  Seniors are a very dynamic part of the community. Cathy Brown, executive director of the Council on Aging, pointed out that they are "contributers, not takers."  If you're looking for a temperate climate, active social and civic life, volunteer opportunities, and just a great all-around place to retire... consider beautiful St. Augustine. Housing prices and mortgage rates right now make it easier than you might think. We're waiting for you!
