Carlsbad Things to Do - Golf at The Crossings at Carlsbad

By
Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty of California, Inc. CA DRE #01490977

The new public golf course, off Palomar Airport Road at 5800 The Crossings Drive, is open in Carlsbad. This long anticipated course (17+ years in the making and the subject of much controversy over land, budget and other issues) opened in early August 2007 to much acclaim, and is getting very popular with visitors and residents already.

The 28,000 SF Club House is beautiful, inside and out, and situated on the hill with a panoramic view of the ocean and the course to the south and east.

There is a gourmet restaurant, The Canyons, which is open for breakfast and lunch daily with full bar service (check out their sample menu), offers great views of the course, the surrounding hills, and the ocean in the distance.

The Pro Shop was pretty impressive looking, at least to this non-golfer (I'll wait to hear what the experts have to say), and the staff very helpful.

The website provides a wealth of information about the course, the facilities, greens and cart fees and so on. You can set up tee times and schedule events as well. You can join their e-Club to stay informed of events and tournaments at the facility via email.

Carlsbad now has an even better range of options for golfers, which also includes the highly-touted Four Seasons Aviara course, Rancho Carlsbad (public) and the 2 courses at La Costa Resort and Spa.

Thanks Neal. I am not a golfer but it's a pretty impressive place. Don;t know how it is rated, though.

Paula - that's true. The only thing that I think takes away from it are the power towers and wires. Nothing to be done about that, I suppose.

Jeff - Thanks for introducing us to The Crossings.  Absolutely lovely.  Sure has an old world charm.  Looks like it has some history instead of a shiny new look.  Truly lovely.

Thanks, Marlene. It's pretty impressive to a non-golfer like me. Makes we want to take up golf...some day.

Jeff, sorry to keep harping on this but - is that the building on the hill that was a shell for years and years?  You could see it from the 5 northbound.

SEVENTEEN YEARS!!! The clubhouse looks very nice, but it doesn't seem to look like the typical architectural style of California. We have a club here that carries a Tuscany theme. It stands out due to its uniqueness.

Jeff - I don't think so, this is inland a little further and I thought it was built new from the ground up.

Elaine - yep, hard to believe how long some of these things take, and there were all sort of delays along the way, as one would expect. And you are right, the clubhouse, while dramatic,in my mind does not fit in at all with most of the architecture you see here.
