With apologies to Popeye..."Shiver Me Timbers", it's mighty cold outside today. You see, living in middle GA we don't get much snow, not even the tainted yellow variety. That changed today.
We are in the midst of a full-fledged, five alarm, batten-down-the-hatches, BLIZZARD! Yes, a blizzard. With 3/4 of an inch of SNICE (snow/ice) blanketing the ground, any minute I'm expecting to see National Guardsmen telling us to stay inside. No argument here; it's doubtful we'd even be able to get the doors opened because of the SNICE bank that's forming.
Luckily, we still have the Christmas box of sausage/cheese that someone re-gifted to us so there's no chance we'll starve. Caught a break there! Even the cats can sleep with both eyes shut...no Donner Party activity on my watch.
Can you shovel SNICE with a rake? Will the leaf blower generate enough heat to melt a path to the vehicles/mailbox/civilization? Will my leather shoes get ruined if I get SNICE on them? All important questions I don't have answers to. I have delegated the first 2 tasks to my assistant (hubby)...who said being a business owner doesn't have its perks?!
No snow tires, chains, engine block warmer, or police escort so I can't brave the elements for retail therapy outside work today. I'm going to have to "rough it" and work from the comfort of home. Sadly, I've misplaced my assistant, or he's hiding...who will hear my feeble plea, "More Tea, Please"?
It looks like I will survive the 2011 Middle GA Blizzard and can boldly pronounce...Now I know what eskimos have to deal with!
