To ring in 2011 properly Geno and I took off on a travel adventure (our favorite thing to do) to Lake Geneva, Switzerland and Frankfort, Germany.
We basked in the alpine panorama staying on Lake Geneva. We could feel the inspiration of the many famous musical composers, writers, actors and poets who settled in the area. We reveled in catching a glimpse of the Jet d'Eau (the tallest fountain in the world) the first day we got there. However, it was not turned on the next two days so could not get a picture! The wind (called "Seiches") by the locals came up and blew a steady 30 KMH forcing the closure of the jet as it iced up the buildings and street behind it.
We took a tour of the city and got to see Saint Peter's Cathedral, the Palais des Nations (United Nations) and visited Place Neuve, the cultural hub of Geneva that sits just outside the former ramparts and is a great access point for the old town, which lies on the other side of the high retaining walls (the walls were referred to as embattlements, protecting the city from attachers. The last attack on Geneva came in the 1600's from their sworn enemies, "The Saxons".)
The architectural aesthetic of the Grand Theatre (opera house), Conservatory of Music and Rath Museum are definitely worth the time spent. Old Town was fun to idly walk and take in the sights.
Frankfort was vibrant and even though cold, everyone was off because the students didn't return to school until January 10th! We grabbed a train to Rudestraim and caught a River cruise up and down the most very scenic Rhine River. We checked out the longest escalator in Europe at MyZeil Shopping Plaza and visited the famous Die Kleinmarkthalle (market) and sampled their pastries and fresh fruits! We drooled over their fresh produce, meats and spices! The best latte's were found at Spice Kitchens owned by "illy" (wonderful coffee)!!
Back from a relaxed fun week with no responsibilities Saturday I found myself back in the saddle! My buyers found a new listing and my competent colleague wrote up the offer for me, inspections were done and i was able to review and we came to terms on repairs by Sunday! I started the delivery of our statistical report (1,350) for our neighborhood and knocked out 250 (hey, it's a start)! I showed one of my new listings on Sunday to a new client looking to move up in then neighborhood and met with a couple Sunday late afternoon to list their house! Whew! And, it's Monday and need to pull staging items out of a listing due to close on Thursday and get some posts written! Glad to be back, missed my friends in ActiveRain and can't wait to check out the latest posts from ya'll!
I'm back after a blissful week! 2011 is off and running full steam ahead...I missed all of you and here are some pictures aligned to share!
2011 is going to be a very good year!!
