Although it would have been great for a Friday Funny post... you don't get to see what I looked like when I arrived at work this morning... Still in my fuzzy, feety, blue, eyore pajamas. My hair was not combed and my teeth weren't brushed either.
I awoke this morning to NO POWER and it was 11 degrees outside and well.... frankly didn't feel much warmer inside. I played with my puppies for just a little while and then packed a bag and headed to my office. My poor daughter who had just worked a 24 hour shift came home to get a shower and a few hours of sleep to go back at noon and work 18 more had to grab a clean uniform and go back to work.
Thankfully I had the vision of just such a day and built a full bath when I built my office a little over 4 years ago. So after a few minutes of cleaning out the items I had stored in the shower I felt much better. I also cranked up the furnace a bit more than usual.
Now I'm back home, the power is back on and even though I have a toasty fire in my wood burning stove, I also have the furnace blowing too. Maybe in a little while it will actually feel warm in here again. I think when a house gets REALLY REALLY cold inside it takes a long time to feel warm again. Having been home for nearly three hours now it's finally 64 inside. BRRRRRRR. Of course the fact that it's 26 outside isn't helping.
That's just ONE reason that sellers shouldn't make their furnace settings too low in their vacant homes. That bone chilling cold just doesn't make buyers feel welcome and agents will remember which homes they are and be less likely on cold days to recommend those homes to buyers as well.
It was all around a busy and crazy day. I had to turn new forms in for our supra keys to MLS. Had to birthday shop for one of my agents (including a cake), Submit two offers (after waiting all week for the buyers banks to return to business and get me "proof of funds" letters. I also had a buyer come in and sign an adendum to my second accepted offer of 2011.
And yesterday one of my agents daughter in law wrecked and totaled my agents car she had loaned to her daughter in law. So after spending all day yesterday in the hospital with family today my agent spent much of the morning dealing with insurance campanies and a car rental company (evidently in some areas they DO NOT pick you up) and instead just give you a window of time they will be open and you can pick up your car. Today was her first day making it to the office this week. I had to help her play "catch-up" on lots of things that had piled on her desk earlier in the week.
Now I have to make one of those phone calls that you hate to make. It's a counter offer. I was excited about the offer because it was SO close to the new reduced price. But then when I got the email of the sellers counter that was several thousand dollars higher than list price I called the listing agent... A BIT CONFUSED. She was also puzzled and set of the "check with the bank/owner" and call me back. As it turns out since they got an offer today (although they didn't give that as their reason) but they TOOK BACK their price reduction and the countered at that several thousand higher than list price in that email. I'll have to tell this entire story.... after it unfolds... one of these days.
After that, I'm baking cookies. I don't even really want cookies, but running the oven will help warm up the house.
