Rocky Gets Furminated at PetSmart

My ten month old golden retriever "Rocky" is such a hairbag!  It looks like we have small little puppies hanging out in the corners of the house unless I vacuum multiples times per week.  He doesn't love getting brushed unless he can bite the bristles after each brush. Well that's not very convenient, so about every 5 weeks he gets to go visit the friendly groomers at PetSmart

This time we opted to have him Furminated.  Wow! What a great treatment.  They used some magic tool that removed all of the dead hair from his coat.  They said that they had a huge pile of fur on the floor after getting done with him.  Wish they would have taken a picture of that!  They way I see it, that fur would have been on my floor, in my vacuum or rubbed up against all of my furniture. Needless to say, the extra $20 it cost me for this treatment was money well spent.

He has been scratching a bit after the treatment but boy is he soft and silky. He's not too upset about losing a ton of fur as long as he has his favorite chew things around.  He even still Hi-Fives when we hold our hand up so he must be feeling pretty good about himself!

Love Goldens but you are right unless you own a Dyson Animal Vaccuum you need to be prepared for loads of fur balls.

People, people, you don't know shedding until you live with a Samoyed.  I can not tell you how I can fill a grocery bag if I just brush him out lightly.  It's a good thing we found a use for all that fur.  Since my husband is a biology teacher, he uses it to do an experiment on protein and teach his kids.

Belinda, I hope you haven't embarrassed Rocky by removing all his fur!

Pat, My poor old Dyson never saw this coming.  It is a work horse.

Jane, Samoyed are crazy furry.  Good for you to find a use for the fur.

Joyce, Rocky is feeling pretty good about himself.  He has been smiling since we picked him up.

Awww ... he is so pretty! There's no dog quite as soft as a golden, IMO. We used to have a white German Shepherd and she shed so bad, I'd brush her outside on a windy day and all the neighbors would end up with the hair in THEIR yards. Well, the birds liked it!

Belinda, that sounds like such a HARSH word, thought he had bugs...or something!   Thanks for sharing!   In the spring, my furrballs need that treatment, and they aren't even long-haired kitties!

Hi Belinda, Rocky is so beautiful.  I actually bought that tool for our white cat and it is amazing how well it works.  Love the furminator.
