I recently wrote a piece about my visit to Newport Beach and the contrast in weather from where I live in the Seattle area to that in Southern California. Today the sun is shining here at home and it's nice even though the temperature is in the thirties. It will be in the seventies in Newport today and to be honest I wish I was still there enjoying a nice walk in the warm morning sun.
I used to run every morning and was an avid runner for about 25 years, now the morning walks suit me just fine. I enjoy the peacefulness and still feel invigorated along with a subtle sense of accomplishment. Some mornings when I could, I walked around Balboa Island as I have done for decades. In a way it's still the same, with many of the views reminiscent of what it was like in years past. The area has grown considerably, but it's still a great walk.
One morning I came upon this guy painting small pictures of the area with a few on display for sale. I rarely use the term "charming" but there is a certain charm to this scene. I think this is one of his favorite spots and maybe you can see why. Here is a link for more information about Balboa Island.
