Motivational Power Quote

Be the Calmest Person In the Room

"Whenever you get into a jam,

whenever you get into a crisis

or an emergency,

become the calmest person in the room

and you'll be able to figure

your way out of it."

Rudolph (rudy) Giuliani, Mayor of New York

As I see it. . . . . . . .

Be the calmest person in the room

When you're facing a problem of any magnitude be the calmest person in the room.

In the mist of negotiating remain clam and keep your emotions under control and remain the calmest person in the room.

In negotiating as in solving problems it takes composure, understanding of the issues, and calmness of purpose to achieve a successful conclusion.

Overreaction creates confusion and a lack of focus to resolve the issue and will create a large gap in coming to a successful result that moves us in the wrong direction.

Calmness allows us to seek successful solutions, remain focused on the outcome and to stay on purpose.

Be the calmest person in the room and you will carve out a strategic   advantage in creating successful outcomes.

Lou, That makes so much sense and when I got the news my mother was dying, my son was THAT person who calmed me and soothed me so that I could form a plan to get to her before she passed. He was just 17 at the time...

Thank you for sharing this good advice from Rudy G. I'm sure he had to have been in some rooms full of choas from time to time. His ability to remain calm, made his answer seem like wisdom to everyone around him.

Hi Lou...I used to be Director of Nursing/Clinical Services in Miami, FL. and I worked with a psychiatrist who would speak softer and softer when situations would really be escalating and it was amazing how the situation would immediately begin to de-escalate.  Good post and oh so true.

Lou,

I love this thought.  I am very laid back and calm is my very normal mode.  Even when having a challenge I would rather focus on how to solve it than freak out!

All the best, Michelle

Lou,

Great advice. I'm learning this the older that I get. Staying calm and keeping a clear head always works better than gettin all hot headed.
