What are the New Most Important Elements on Business Cards? After 22 years at Altas Realy, I just joined Keller Williams Cupertino and I'm in the process of ordering new signs and new business cards. Before I do, I would love to get input and perspective (and maybe even some tips, do's and don'ts) from my ActiveRain colleagues on what to keep and what to leave off.

I know the most important are my name, phone number, email, website, fax #, California Dept. of Real Estate License number and broker name and address.

Some people say agent image photos are good, others say icons are better. (I wish agents would stop the boudoir/glamour shots though, looks like some are selling the wrong product line if you know what I mean).

What about QR codes-should I have one on there with my info?

On the back I like to put room for my "introduce me" by refferal only language, purpose or mission, team contacts and why I shared my card (open house, showing, etc.) But it can end up with teeny-tiny type, making it hard to read.

What about all of my social media icons? My broker Chris Alston of Keller Williams Cupertino has them on his cards and I love the look.

So ActiveRain, Twitter, FaceBook, LinkedIn-anything else worthwhile or maybe still too trendy? (x. Google+, Klout, Tumblr, etc.)

I like to include my designations but I think I should include the explanations and then I'm using postcards instead of business cards.

Obviously full color is desirable. While I love the look of glossy cards, you can't write on the darn things, so I can't leave even a "hi" message without looking like a kindergartener.

What about putting the referral fee I'm willing to pay another agent?

And what about the Unique Selling Proposition or Call to Action? Such as "I Sell Your Home in 28 Days or I Give You $1,000."

Thanks in advance for your help. I'm looking forward to your helpful thoughts on tips, do's and don'ts for today's business cards.

I believe in simple name of the company and the address as well as the phone number.  Simple and clean.  I was told a long time ago that the clean clear spots on the page or card are the most important parts.

I went to a card without a photo last time. Just a basic design and no QR Code yet either.

"looks like some are selling the wrong product line"lol!  you got that right....I agree with Tim above....simple and clean....but don't forget your email address....and I would do glossy on the front but not on the back...give them some space so they can write some important number on it so they don't through it away...lol!  I don't put my fax # on it....frankly....we should just do away with faxes and have everyone email docs.

I'm in the Keep It Simple camp too. Don't get caught up in trying to do too much in 10 square inches. Whether or not you have a LinkedIn account, Google+, or the countless other things won't make or break the deal. If I want to see if you are on Facebook, or Twitter - I'll find you easy enough, I know your name.

Just my thoughts.

Looks like we have a consensus on simple! Thanks for taking the time to read, think and comment about this. I'll blog with the result.

My card is double sided. . .shinny, vibrant with the right message. . and when you get it. . you don't forget it

I would pick the 3 most expensive cards available. .and choose one of them

They are that important . .

and. .brand yourself. .not KW

Michelle, the most important thing to remember is simplicity.... Make sure the font is pleasant to the eyes and the front of the card is not crowded..

My cards just have my picture, name,  company, phone number, email, website, dre. # (sounds alot) but the design and layout is very eyegrabbing.. (yes I put some thought into this since most business cards go in the trash)...

The back of the cards I usually leave blank, especially for once I hold open houses they have a question or anything I can write notes on the back of one of my business cards about the property or another property etc.. Just for the purpose of them being able to see me do it...It's more of a psycological reason... Whenever they see your handwriting on the back of the card you gave them, they are going to remember you, your mannerisms, your voice, and your attitude, which will make you stand out especially if they are hitting 10-20 open houses that weekend and getting 10-20 other agents business cards.

Something I am also considering is half of the back (still leaving the other half blank) is putting a QR code, and the QR being a Vcard, they scan it, they can automatically save your information into their phones and if they lose your card they still have your information and once you call them to follow up from them coming into the open house your number is and name is going to come up on their caller I.D. and it won't be a foreign number to them, since it is someone coming from their phonebook, that they programmed in, they are obviously familar with that person (even if they don't remember you right away) so they are more likely to answer to familarity rather then an unfamiliar number....

Like I said... I put alot of thought into my business cards... Hope this helps! :)

Fernando, Wallce & Stacey-thank you for the input. I am working to include what's essential, and definitely continue to brand myself.
