Oye Veh...
Sloppy is as sloppy does or at least that is what I have to say. And just because you can purchase something in a home improvement store, doesn't mean that it conforms to "codes" or acceptable trade practices either.
First of all, there would be a strong argument that the contractors first job must have been in a meat packing plant - words can ere express the the quality of the butchering job on the cabinetry.
The plumbing stops need to be readily accessible and operable. Well okay, they might if you have mighty small hands.
There ain't no way José that those accordion fittings you get from the home improvement store conform to standard trade practices.
I'm still scratching my head as to why this rehab got issued a CO. I reckon that everything looked good from the curb...
Clearly the inspector who signed off on the final CO was out to lunch that day.... liquid lunch that is!
Michael, these work well when the do it yourselfer finds out that the pipes don't line up properly and its cheaper to fix. Quality workmanship, what's that!
Michael, always glad to learn something new! In this case, I'm not surprised. Most "DIY" projects are done by folks who just want to get the job done, cheap. Not necessarily correctly or best. This is why we have "Licensed" professionals. Good to know, thanks!
I don't have the eyes to see things under the hood so to speak...but I have enough sense to hire someone who does. Your post reminds us of the importance and necessity of doing so
Michael, buy cheap, do cheaper work and make some fast $$$$$$$
Unfortunately that's the mentality of some people out there. Short term gain with no long term goal.
Enjoy the day
Thanks for sharing your photograph. Another good reason for home buyers to have a professional home inspection. This type of item can easily be missed by a buyer.
Blooming for you!
Michael~ Meat packing plants don't teach us the skills needed to rehab a property?....
Curb appeal aside, not everyone is "cut out" to do home repairs!
Thank goodness for inspections!
Michael
Another outstanding post from The Nashville Area Home Inspector.
Good luck and success.

Michael:
You are so right when you say "I reckon that everything looked good from the curb..."
What is a consumer to do if the City OKs the work?
And to think I got called "a girl" by a Realtor/Seller for the same shoddy work. I gave up scratching and just call it into the City.
Michael, as much as people can laugh at this now, it happens more often than people think
Wow I can make that big of a mess and save paying a plumber? Yippee I'm all over it.
This apparently is the result of the three stooges getting their own home improvement show on HGTV... =]
That is what one uses after someone else removed and sold the copper, no?
ROFL. I guess whatever it takes to get the job done and the inspection passed! My question is does it work ok? I've seen kitchen sink plumbing held together with sprinkler glue. hahaha I need to dig up that picture.
