I Need Google + Circles In My Real Life to Help Me Know Who's Who and How I Know Them!
WE DO HAVE GOOGLE + CIRCLES IN OUR REAL LIVES.
They are known as "Brain Imprints".
Brain imprints are what help me become a champion skeet and trap shooter. It's the old and accepted theory that "Practice Makes Perfect". Or, at least better and better, depending on how intense the practice. Back in the days when I competed, I was at the range 4-5 days a week. Why? Practice, practice, practice. Fact is, many of us get a real "RUSH" when doing something well. Makes us want to get better and better.
Real estate practice or staging is the same. While we do learn from our mistakes when we make one, we also experience the "rush" of success when we have a good sale, or outcome or receive a check for our services. I always say, "Thank You" to the listing agent and seller at settlement.
Then, my commission check is deposited into my bank account. AND. . .
The experience of that transaction is deposited in my "experience account" as little brain imprints!!
How does one learn?? By repetition.
How does one become better?? By more repetition and practice, practice, practice.
I recall that this, Brain Imprints, was one of the topics for one of my very first ActiveRain blog posts.
SEE: EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT REAL ESTATE PRACTICE I LEARNED FROM B.F. SKINNER
IT'S AS SIMPLE AS LEARNING TO OPEN THE FRONT DOOR.
I observed many years ago that new agents who took control of their real estate practice early on were more likely to succeed and sell a lot of real estate. One of the advantages these new agents had over others was that they were motivated to learn the skills needed on a daily basis such as:
Making appointments with consumers
Making appointments to show
Finding the homes to show
Opening the front door of homes

There has been some discussion of late on ActiveRain posts about "training vs. experience". I've been challenged by members who dispute my reliance on experience. Fact is, training gives one a foundation with which to practice what they have learned. However, only experience will develop those little BRAIN IMPRINTS that make any task easier and more efficient.

I need Google+ Circles in My Real Life to Help Me Know Who's Who and How I Know Them!
Having lived in different cities I'm always running into people that I think I know. Problem is I'm never sure if I know them from living here in Delray Beach; my hometown of Houston or from a few other cities I've lived in. Or... maybe I don't really know them at all! And do I know them socially or from my work.
So as not to offend anyone, I make it a practice to always smile and say "Hello" as if they're a long lost friend. To some they may be wondering the same thing when they see me... or they may just think I'm some nut case that says hello to everyone.
Growing up in Houston, I had my family and everyone I knew through them... then people I knew from grade school .... then college friends. And, oh yes, there were my social group of friends; you know.. the ones you partied with, dated, went to movies, etc. Then graduate and you have to add another group of people you know... your work group.
You see someone and quickly your mind starts clicking like a computer... images begin to pop up in your head as you try to figure out if (1) you really do know them and (2) how you know them.
Wouldn't it be nice if we had a "Google + Circles" in our head. We could quickly sort through to find out who someone is. Do I want to tell this person some information or are they in the group that doesn't get my juicy tidbit.
Are you using your Circles? And, if you are.... how do you like them???
Want to be in one of My Circles?? Or Want Circles of Your own??
