How Many Boxes Do I Need To Move

How Many Boxes Will I Need To Move? - A question EVERY person asks more than once in their lifetime!

One thing that has been most challenging for me when buying or selling Real Estate and moving is the actual "MOVE" itself. I wonder if there are others who feel the same way and just the thought of packing and moving prevents them from making the decision to buy or sell?

I don't mind looking for properties, signing documents, getting appraisals, working with agents, lenders, title companies, and inspectors etc. It's the actual move, now that's a lot of work!

My grandma used to always say, "Three moves is as good as a fire!" Until I moved a third time, I never really knew what that meant? Now I do! We tend to have soooo much stuff. We start off with a small amount of stuff, but then we're always wanting and needing more stuff and eventually over time, we have a great deal of stuff. Now we need a bigger kitchen, bigger bedrooms, BIGGER HOUSES etc.

George Carlin did a great comedy skit talking about this very thing..."Stuff!"

I'm excited to announce this really cool new tool we've just launched called the "Moving Box Estimator" and I know you're going to love this one. I recently added this little widget to the sidebar of RealtoolsforRealtors.com and it's getting some rave reviews and generating many inquiries. Widgets like this are all about providing a "value-added" and needed service to your visitors and target audiences.

Once a home is purchased or sold, you know the next question that goes through every mind of every client and consumer, "How Many Boxes Will I Need To Move?" Now you can assist them by providing them the Moving Box Estimator widget on your site or blog. Go ahead and give it a try below.

Now that we got the boxes issue resolved, lets remove the next biggest challenge from the moving equation: "How to call and get your buddies and friends to come over and help you move all "YOUR STUFF" over the weekend!" lol~ We've all been there right? lol~

I moved 2 1/2 years ago and I'm still staring at three boxes in my office. My husband thinks they can just be thrown away since I haven't opened them yet, but they might be important "stuff" I need... too much "stuff"...

I love it Brad!  You are so right in that the move is the worst part and in my mind horrible!!!!  I'm thinking I could put my mover friends information to call and maybe get her some business!

My movers will actually be here in an hour to move us into our first home (not a condo/townhouse) - can't wait.  This will be the sixth place we've lived together since starting to date 9 years ago.  And you're right about three moves equally a firing.  That's actually been the nice thing about moving, it helps you eliminate what you are no longer using.

That is funny because you you do neer know how many boxes you'll need. And I remember that clip from George years and years ago. The whole show was hilarious.

Hi Kathy (and Peter and Linda) - Since there is not data currently available in Canada, I was referring to making a customized link that would take them to a site or blog of your own chosing that DID show property or anything else you want to link them to.

You just have to change the code meaning the URL and the text. It's as easy as resizing a youtube video when embedding it into a blog post. If you'd like me to walk you through doing this, I'd be happy to.  :-)

Brad - Are you saying we can change the coding ..... I thought Zillow did not allow that ..... if we can send me an official email so my web guy/hubby will look at it.

Brad - Here is the code as Barrie changed it but does it meet Zillows terms of use as it no longer directs the viewers to Zillow listings. I highlighted the changes he made

Kathy - oops, I stand corrected.  I just checked the terms and conditions and it does say the link needs to remain in tact however you can modify the title at the top of the widget and include your custom URL there.

Thanks for keeping me honest and on my toes. :-)

Brad:

I had a client that needed to get the clutter cleaned up before their home could go on the market, after they purged the attic, the cellar, garage, and the storage shed of all the "stuff", they decided that they did not need to sell, amazing, how much space is freed up when you eliminate the the "stuff".
