Friday Fotos- An Inspirational Look at Redlands CA.

I live and work in the Redlands area. I love the city as it is so beautiful, well maintained, and very historical. The city is very unique as nowadays many cities downtown areas have turned to industrial or all the buildings are empty and boarded up but not Redlands. The downtown section is lovely, full of restaurants, a variety of shopping, and many historical buildings such as the downtown post office and Smiley Library. I have included a few of my photos for you to enjoy.

I did two posts last month on Gottschalks; one in San Bernardino and one in Redlands. Our stores started out by the Harris Company in San Bernardino in 1906. Then in the 80's they sold to Gottschalks. Unfortunately to bad market and spreading themselves too thin, they closed all their stores in 2009. I truly miss Gottschalks and I am a firm believer that we need to shop in our communities and keep the business there whenever possible but I have to drive to Rancho Cucamonga about 20 miles to shop Macy's there. Very dismal shopping but the little shops downtown have some nice clothes and jewelry plus an array of accessories.

Yes, Redlands is beautiful so if you find yourself in California, please stop in and walk the downtown area of State Street and Citrus Avenue as it is truely delightful.

Hi Mike,

I think it is my favorite picture too. I have been practicing using black and white instead of full color. Sometimes I add 1 item of color back in too. My friend is a professional photographer and does this for big bucks. I just do it for fun and for the AR members.
