Ever get a call about real estate, a property you just listed and the guy or gal on the other end is pumping you with questions in rapid fire progression like a teletype?
And you like slaloming down a Maine fresh powder ski slope are weaving in and out of the questions.Getting a good workout of your knowledge on the property listing, the local area too.
And then a voice in the background becomes louder, more agitated, persistent.
You can tell, see, sense the just answered question the other part of the real estate buying couple is wanting addressed.
Sounds a little like Charlie Brown's teacher with a muffled mute in a horn effect"
And you can see the tugging on the shirt sleeve, stomach poking to the poor person holding the cell phone.
You would like to say pass the phone to the other person that is full of twenty questions.
And you quickly determine who is primary "alpha" buyer in this real estate interrogation.
Often, the lead caller that is being pummeled, peppered with questions in the background gets a little hot and bothered.
He has the answers I supplied to her questions but she is not getting the results fast enough. Is not going to wait until the call is done. Not satisfied that he got what she is after, wants to know first hand. I suggest speaker phone. Then he gets more hot under the collar. As I answer his last question but that he is having trouble hearing as he gets three more from the audience in his car, in his kitchen or living room.
A couple things can happen. He or she gives up and says "here, you talk to Andy." Because he senses he is not getting the real estate questions answered fast enough. Or to the satisfaction of the person on his or her end, that is pumping him for all he is worth like it is live and death.
I gently try to make sure everyone on the other end gets an ice cream.
Win or lose or draw if the first guy drops one.Real estate is an emotional experience though so it may seem pretty darn important. Especially in a relocation, retirement move where a real estate buyer does not want to screw it up. To do a good job. The pass the phone happens to avoid a scolding after he hangs up and comes up short in trying to remember what I was saying while his other ear is being stuffed with three more bang bang bang questions where the urgency, tone, loudness increases because she can not hear from he is trying to decipher.
Often, the same set of real estate questions that took ten minutes to address get asked verbatim again by the new holder of the phone in the real estate buying couple. Maine, big state, neat people, natural outdoor beauty everywhere you look.
