One of the things I like to do when I visit a neighborhood when I’m looking at Portland, Oregon real estate is to visit the local parks like Hancock Park in North East Portland. By doing this I can usually get a really good feel for the neighborhood.
I can usually tell if it is a good neighborhood by how many families are in the park in the afternoons or if during the day, I can tell a lot about the neighborhood by looking for graffiti. If I don’t see a lot of graffiti, then I know that chances are the area is pretty good and the neighbors take pride in their parks and their neighborhood.
I also like to take my kids to these parks as they will tell me the truth about a park and if they find it enjoyable, then I know I can tell my clients that it is a park their kids will enjoy. My kids certainly enjoyed Hancock Park in NE Portland because of the merry-go-round. (My kids love the merry-go-rounds)
