One of the reasons I love Austin is the unique creativeness of our Austinites. Trey Ratcliff from Austin is an American blogger, author and photographer specializing in HDR photography. He was born blind in his right eye which he feels shaped his interest in photography, especially HDR.
His popular #1 Travel Photography blog site is www.stuckincustoms.com.
Trey's photo "Fourth on Lake Austin", a three-exposure HDR, was the first HDR photo to hang in the Smithsonian, having won in their annual photography contest.
He has now created an iPad app that went live last week called "Stuck on Earth". It is free at the app store and all Ratcliff asks that you pass the word along about it. How exciting is that?? It's an extremely user-friendly app that starts out asking your name and whether you're a "Dreamer", "Explorer", "Photographer" or all three!! Then you are presented with a world map that you can zoom into to find photos shot around the world! Of course since Ratcliff is from Austin expect to see a lot of Austin content (check out the 50 secret Austin spots).
Michael, Kristine, Rob, Gayle, John (just a few of our ActiveRain's resident photographers) you may know about him but if you don't...check him out!! "Stuck on Earth" is a great resource whether you are traveling to distant lands or not and the photography shows the best of the best for each location. Their plans are to take this technology to all devices - Android, iPhone and the web!
Trey Ratcliff's style of hyper-real visuals combined with the utility of an app makes the iPad device your travel buddy! I have an iPad2 and his tutorial on taking pictures has gotten me excited to utilize the technology to its fullest!
P.S. Did I mention Business Review Magazine ranked Austin as one of the eight best places to live and work in the U.S. this year? So, if you are thinking about buying or selling in NW Austin, I'd love the opportunity to help! Just call me at 512-346-1799 so we can discuss your housing needs.
Good morning Dorie. I wasn't familiar with any of these photographers but am so very glad you shared. Just amazing and different. Happy Holidays Dorie.
