ONE "UNIQUE" IDEA

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Daytona Condo Realty, 386-405-4408

David, our friends’ son, bought this condo in Ossining (with the view of Hudson River and the infamous prison Sing-Sing), loved his unit but hated the idea that someone would come and take a unit above him.

Being a music fan (and who isn’t?), he came with a rather “unique” idea to make this second floor unit unattractive to buyers. He would turn his amplifier all the way, and that was supposed to be a deterrent to potential buyers.

Insulation wasn’t the best in the world, and I am sure that the music was sure heard in that second floor unit.

Too loudI can’t say that the plot did not work, it did, but in rather weird way. There were a few people who were turned off by a loud music from the unit downstairs, but finally they met their match.

Those people bought this unit because they thought that finally they would not have to deal with all those complaints on loud music.

I guess those buyers loved loud music even more than Michael. They loved their downstairs neighbors.

Now David did not even have to turn on the music, it was there. The only difference now David could not just turn it off… His level of comfort was hardly much higher than for those in Sing-Sing…

The musical contest did not last long. Michael jumped on the offer to work in Australia for 3 years. Part of the deal was that he gave his unit to his company, and got his money.

Just gotta be careful with “unique” ideas

Jon,

That is too funny, and it is amazing how things work out sometimes.  Thanks for adding humor to the end of our day.  Wishig you a delightful holiday, and a wonderful new year filled with everything you are asking for.  All the best, A

Oh those darned "Unintended consequences." I'm glad it worked out well for him, but feel sorry for the next folks to inhabit that unit.

Oh Jon, that is so funny.  Ossining is by me, so that is also very cool - was just there on Thurs.

Jon - That's pretty funny!  I'm sure his neighbors were sad to see him go.

Too funny Jon, the best laid plans, often don't go quite the way they are expected.

Looks like he met his match, but who could resist an opportunity in Austrailia and in the end it all worked out.

Seriously, that was some crazy idea your friend's son had. He lucked out with that job opportunity in Australia. Maybe the neighbors will be gone by the time he gets back.

Jill - he was lucky because his comany bought the unit from him. That was the whole thing with Australia. They took his property here, so that he could buy or rent there, and when he came back, he bought a house in Ossining.

Donna - I am not even sure that David would have taken the job in Australia, if not for this problem with the condo. Of course, it is not that it was totally unbearable, but it was too much for David.

I am surre he learned his lesson

Jon, this is funny. Isn't it that unique ideas can still be crazy ideas? Like David's idea?
