How Many Social Media Platforms Should A Real Estate Agent, Broker Weed And Feed?

By
Real Estate Agent with MOOERS REALTY ME Broker License 106759

There are over 340 social media sites that a real estate agent, broker can consider joining, signing up if you log on to the KnowEm platform marketing portal.

broadcast station tower The site boasts up to 550 social media options exist from tech, photo, video to micro blogging, health, news, business and everything in between.

I have 78 social media sites registered for Mooers Realty.

I know I know overwhelming if you are thinking "oh no".

Not one more high tech job jar slip of paper to do you groan.

Another item on the "Real Estate To Do" list on your refrigerator under one of your office magnets.

But if 85% of folks go on line through the day and night to find Internet goods, products, services, better be on, all over this information highway right?

Broadcasting your message signal from several towers. Working in harmony, systematically to reach further, deeper, stronger with frequency to capture more market share of the real estate pie in your home town.

Set up on the social media platforms that help you promote your local area, the individual real estate listings.

That brand you in a professional way on line for all to see. And then hopefully tap in to and use your knowledge, expertise, real estate services.

social media on line platformsPick the ones that work best for you to post to with links to your other media streams.

Every piece of your real estate marketing plan is connected.

Works together for the common good of your brand.

Or should.

Just setting these social media sites up is not the answer.

Like a garden, it needs daily SEO watering.

A good "fresh content" bed of information seeds planted in a grid.

Planned use of all the media stream delivery options available. And there will be changes needed, weeding to keep the real estate garden healthy, growing, robust youtube video logoand helpful to any one on line.

This KnowEm site is also one way to know of new platforms, to compare them all in one spot without wasting time searching. Or missing out on one you can see a handy dandy application for in the dark blue tool box with the gold "R" on it that you carry to do your job.

Marketing, promoting your local area, the property listings in it, your real estate brand.

Andrew, I know I'm grateful that there are a lot of "automatic" feeds from our MLS and that's taught us to be super careful and thorough with MLS info.

Andrea.... I have an unfair advantage. Where I live is always low cost real estate, surrounded by a ton of acreage, space. And the folks are friendly, doors unlocked all the time when you live in a beautiful unspoiled state with the 4th lowest crime, 46th lowest for FSSR (foreclosure, short sale, repossession) stats. The area I service and people, natural places in it are the talent, not me. I just have good material, content to promote and do the walking, talking.

John ... Always adjusting, fiddling with the  "sales" to take advantage of the marketing wind. Real estate is a jealous master, like a sport, affliction some say. I like the condition and test positive for the "R" gene. I love where I live, raise a family and what I do for work.

Diane ... One tent for all the marketing options. Like You Tube is the video giant, other platforms like Vimeo, Metacafe, Wellcome Mat, Bright Cove, and one I jumped on last night Property Tube all worth exploring. Seeing if they increase your broadcast signal or in what we called ERP (effective radiated output). We are all broacasters. It's like a house horse race. You want money on all the ponies in the gates, betting on all on the marketing steeds on the race track to win, place, show. Pick your team of horses, know the strengths and drawbacks, limitations of each. Put them in to rotation to gallop around the Internet. To bring eyeballs and ear drums of real estate buyers back to the stable where you hang your real estate license.

Josh ... Thanks and same to you in 2012!

Mona .... Ping.fm is a neat tool to add to the utility belt and tumblr is a site I have under utilized. Just like it's feel, application options.

I agree with you that there needs to be a strategy to get maximum exposure through these types of sites. I will take a look at KnowEm to see how they syndicate. I am always looking to expand Internet presence..,but have to do it per the results obtained to time spent managing them.

Ken ... Other wise it is like decorating a Christmas tree with no plan thought out. Just  standing on the other side of the room and heaving handfuls of decorations for all you are worth from 15 or more feet away. And hoping not too many break on the hardwood floor by the fireplace Santa does his Ho Ho Ho chimney sweep annual exercise. Be Nice (and organized) not Naughty and with no strategy for how all the marketing pieces fit together. So if someone took your marketing plan or the individual websites, blogs, social media pages/places and video arrays through a wind tunnel, you would get a lightning fast score for drag. With no rough edges, no missing puzzle pieces so the information moves quickly, efficiently, completely to the other end of the smoke signal, tin can and string for one memorable real estate experience that he/she is not used to receiving when they mouse around the Internet.

From Our House To Yours - Happy New Year

Happy New Year

In 2012 I would Challenge each and everyone to reach out and touch someone be it as close as a neighbour going through a hard time to some one half way around the world. It does not matter if you donate to a local food bank, or travel halfway around the world to offer aid or assistance. If we all did Just One Thing To Make Someones New Year A Little Better A Little Brighter the world would be better for it and so would we. In today's global world with its instant communication of disaster and distress how can we not reach out.

Make This A Happy New Year For Someone Else.

Andrew,

Poor George, the man I worked for in Denmark, ME in 1987 - 91 is probably rolling in hs grave. When I worked in the office, he still had one of those old crank phones with the short, short, long ring to call to the Nurses Staion or the Cabin Line at the summer camp I worked at. And then we had a Pay Phone and it was very difficult to make phone calls. The last time I was there in 2009 I still had trouble getting my cell phone to make connections.

You have the amazing know how to understand technology and to reach out to others. I admire you! I'll have to explore some of those Social Medias - but how on earth do you get anything else done?

Truly, you are a beacon of light to us here on ActiveRain. I 've enjoyed getting to know you and appreciate your talent and technology skills.

Happy New Year!

Patricia

Pat .... Farm boy remember. Git 'er dunnn. The sites that make the marketing easier are the way to look at it. New ways to do old and new things better. Eventually everything will be interactive video. Your real estate buyer sits there, leans back after the toggle to start the experience. Reaches out and pulls in interactive maps, takes the tour, can pick where he tours...more back yard, aerial view, and help yourself any time of the day easy. We are service, information, dream providers.  With a little Dr Phil. But have to hustle, be the little red hen. To make the "bread".
