Stock Up On Forever Stamps Before Sunday
Beginning on January 22, 2012 the Postal Service will increase the rates for all mail classes including First Class Mail®, Priority Mail and Express Mail along with many special services.
Even with the massive use of email, there are still many of us who still use the Postal Service for many things.
First Class Letters (1 oz.) will increase by one cent to $0.45 from $0.44. Each additional ounce will cost an extra $0.20 (no change)
Postcards will show the biggest increase by three cents, from $.29 to $.32.
Forever stamps began in 2007. They are sold based on the first class rate at the time they are purchased.
The advantages of a forever stamp to the consume allows them to stock up on first class postage at the current rate and use them until the supply is exhausted. It also eliminates the need to buy one, two or three cent stamps to add to the old postage. So, the greatest advantage of a forever stamp is convenience.
