Stock Up On Forever Stamps Before Sunday

Beginning on January 22, 2012 the Postal Service will increase the rates for all mail classes including First Class Mail®, Priority Mail and Express Mail forever stampalong with many special services.

Even with the massive use of email, there are still many of us who still use the Postal Service for many things.

First Class Letters (1 oz.) will increase by one cent to $0.45 from $0.44. Each additional ounce will cost an extra $0.20 (no change)
Postcards will show the biggest increase by three cents, from $.29 to $.32.

Forever stamps began in 2007. They are sold based on the first class rate at the time they are purchased.

The advantages of a forever stamp to the consume allows them to stock up on first class postage at the current rate and use them until the supply is exhausted. It also eliminates the need to buy one, two or three cent stamps to add to the old postage. So,  the greatest advantage of a forever stamp is convenience.

And as for the savings.... well, every penny counts, doesn’t it?

We went to Costco on the 21st and bought 3 - 100 count rolls. I know I will probably go through those in the matter of a month, I still know I saved some money. I'm just hoping our local grocery store has their stamp sale again this year.

We have a local store that sells stamps at about a 15% discount once a year for about a month. I'll stock up then, because I know that savings is huge. Last year I bought over 1000 stamps.

Hi Todd, there are some great savings at Costco. Because of that, I used to think that I would save on everything I bought there. Not true. One must still comparison shop.

Dang...I missed the deadline. I still have a roll of Forever stamps, and will surely get some more since I'm ready to send out some letters to absentee sellers.

I also stocked up on the 1 cent stamps. So I'm good :)

Sandy - I rarely use stamps, but I still should have stocked on up with the increase.
