My football team didn't win the Super Bowl this year. That's because the Chicago Bears didn't play in the Super Bowl this year. Actually, the Chicago Bears haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1985 ... but I digress. Anyway, all the Super Bowl hype is finally over and the big game is a faint memory. However, the end of football season means just one thing: Baseball season is almost here!
I'm not shy about letting people know what a tremendous sports fan I am. In fact, anyone who knows me -- knows how much I love watching sports. I’ve even written a couple of blogs about my affection for sports, including one that was my very first post on ActiveRain ever! Interestingly, one thing I've come to realize is that sports has a lot in common with real life. Setting goals, honing your skills, living with integrity, working hard, cooperation, and knowing how to be a good team player -- are all important elements to a successful life. And, like the New England Patriots, if you don't achieve your goal ... set new goals and start all over again!
I’m getting charged up about the new baseball season. As a Chicago Cubs fan, I join thousands of others who have waited a lifetime for a World Series win. And, if anybody understands patience and the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, it's a die hard Cubs fan! Starting over and reinventing yourself takes a lot of optimism, determination, creativity, and of course -- a little blood, sweat, and tears. The Cubs haven't won a World Series in 103 years. I believe good things come to those who wait. For the Cubs -- and for the rest of us -- is "Wait Until Next Year" finally here?
Hey Carie.
How did your half time show go? I thought you'd be posting on it?????? Pics and info when you can :)
I am a die hard fan...win or lose! Looking for my Twins to do much better this year.
John: Working on getting photos and the "interesting turn of events" together for a post. Thanks for remembering :)
William: Good luck to your team this year too :)
Hey Carie, Sports seem to just take over whatever else is going on in peoples lives. Amazing to me.... here we are in Cancun and what.... the SuperBowl is all that people can talk about!! Great blog though..
Carie,
My other half wasn't interested in watching the games because it wasn't the Bears. He belives the Cubs will win in his lifetime. Die hard fans!
Janis: Yes, sports is practically another religion in my hometown! You're in Cancun? I am jealous with a capital "J" ... hope you are having a fabulous time :)
Marge: All of us die hard Cubs fans hope your other half is right :)
Carie ... Best wishes to you and all Chicago Cubs fans again this year. Although I am an Anaheim Angels fan - not a Cubs fan - I hope your team wins it all some day.
Harrison: As my grandmother would say ... "From Your Mouth To God's Ears" :) I hope the Cubs can win it all some day ... but good luck to you and your Angels as well!
It will be a year of re-tooling for your Cubbies ! But new leadership should greatly improve their future !
