luxurious xeriscape with sweet yellow broom

This lovely showy plant known as Sweet Yellow Broom is known for its abundance of bright yellow and sweetly fragrant flowers.  It trives in full sun and requires minimal watering. "Xeriscape refers to landscaping and gardening in ways that reduce or eliminate the need for supplemental water from irrigation" according to Wikipedia.  Its maximum height ranges between 6-8ft and  5-6 ft widte.  It blooms in late winter or early spring through mid summer. It is a fast growing pant great in corners or as a hedge, and is wonderful on a hillside.  On a gloomy or sunny day, it will make you smile.

Wishing you Friday Smiles, Cheers, Ron & Alexandra

Hi Alexandra - Mary is getting ready for her annual trip to the nursery, and I'll mention this to her so she can check if it will grow in our zone. Low water requirement is a very good feature here - we're not xeriscaped, but we're moving in that direction, since water is fairly expensive here and we had a poor year for snowpack - our source for all our municipal and agricultural water.

That is very pretty, Alexandra. Yellow is so sunny and bright. Low water requirement is an extra added benefit for buying Sweet Yellow Broom.

It's called Spanish Broom in our neck of the woods and if not trimmed they get as large or larger than a VW car.  No kidding!  They are most colorful and we certainly enjoy the neighbors.

That sure is a pretty plant! I have never seen it before. Here in Texas they have a plant called Lantana that serves the same purpose and I think it's great that people are cognizant of native plants and how they can be useful.

Yours are just gorgeous!

I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of native plants or Xeriscape, since we had water meters installed last year.  I also like the look and smell of Yellow Broom.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Ron and Alexandra!

Hi Alexandra, I have to go along with Myrl's comment but it has taken me years to actually appreciate the beauty of Xeriscape. I credit the camera for having me take a much better look. God sure is a genius.

Ron & Alexandra, These are great for creating privacy between homes that are built close together without the benefit fences or block walls. I love the vibrant yellow!
