Update - Be Ready for Anything, Anytime, Anywhere
A while back I wrote a blog about being ready for anything at a moments notice. Well, today it paid off! Today I picked up a check for my efforts. The parking lot where I met this person turned into a paycheck. You see, this person was searching for a rental in a condo complex where I happened to be showing condos for sale. Thinking forward a bit I happened to have in my possession a list of the rentals that were either available for rent or had rented in the last couple of months.
The client that I was supposed to meet had been late that day and I was waiting for him when a car pulled up next to me. The man in the car got out and proceeded to search the area for anyone to answer questions about the “rental office.” Since I happened to be sitting in my car, waiting for a client,it wasn’t difficult to be ‘available” to answer questions. So that day I answered questions about rentals and sales to a complete stranger.
The best part of this story is that I was able to explain the market to him; explain why it made more sense to buy vs. rent; and we were able to find what he needed in his price range. We proceeded to view homes on 4 separate occasions. We viewed everything from short sales to foreclosures to normal sales and finally new-builds. My new client just closed on a beautiful new condo at a great interest rate in a great location. I’m ecstatic that we were able to find just what he needed.
We all run into potential prospects from time to time. And we’re often asked, “How’s the market?” But it sure was a great feeling having everything in front of me for someone who happened to walk up to ask me a question in a parking lot! It really pays to be ready for anything, anytime, anywhere.
