Bank of America Needs a Family First Program

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

Odds are if I have a problem with a Bank of America short sale, it's due to AMS. Overall, Bank of America has been a lot more focused on solving its short sale issues than a few other banks I won't name. Most of my Sacramento short sales go pretty smoothly when they involve Bank of America. Except for an AMS HAFA short sale. I suppose it probably comes down to choosing the devil you know, for Bank of America, over the devil you do not. The least of the evils out there. And thank goodness Bank of America isn't blaming this problem on Family First.

This Families First campaign is getting out of hand. Since when do we need to be reminded we each have family? Why aren't you in school, Johnny? Because I put my family first, man, he says, toking on a joint. I'm not saying don't care about your family, was there ever a time in which we didn't care about our families? But stop using family as a crutch. Guys: man up. Women: put on your pants one leg at a time like the rest of us.

The simple truth is family doesn't always come first. Sometimes, it's your health that comes first. Sometimes, it's your next door neighbor who is hurting. Sometimes it's your sanity or your job or the guy who just got knocked into the street by a runaway ice cream truck. Stop feeling guilty if you set and adhere to priorities that don't always involve your family.

Not every family makes the grade anyway.

Who originated this guilt trip? Nobody gives a rats about the guilt trip unless they need it for an excuse. If everybody did the job they were supposed to do, nobody would have to fall back on family first as the reason that they can't do their job. Suppose President Obama decided to head down to the local bowling alley with his family instead of attending a scheduled Summit Conference with world leaders?

Sometimes the dog needs to go to the vet, and that whiny kid in the corner can just keep on whining. Eventually he'll get tired and shut up. I wish I could say that about AMS but I just can't. I don't say this as a Sacramento short sale agent who closes only a few deals a year. I looked at my production yesterday, wondering how I've been doing. I am not ashamed to report that I have closed more than $23 million, which is more than 110 homes over the past 12 months. It's not super-star agent production but it's darned decent. I have my nose to the grindstone, and AMS just doesn't make the grade with me.

Bank of America, why don't you just take your short sales back in-house and say family comes first?

Agreed on BOA. I also think me are seeing a drop in the need for many banks to have to sell the home as short as they would have a year or so ago.

With a little help from the appreciation Gods and the banks becoming a little more HUMAN when it comes to families this problem can go away.

Amen....AMS is horrible.  What do they do all day?  Cuz they get nothing done til it is escalated a hundred times and tweeted 50 times.  I am so glad we have nothing with AMS at the moment.  I have even whined to BofA when we had AMS, why oh why can't the mucky muck get it that AMS does not work the same timelines, not that they have any timelines......

Elizabeth, seriously, how many closings would be super star?   You're a machine!  Brian

Amen!  If BOA would just take these darn things on themselves instead of farming them out, life would be so much easier.  BOA has come such a long way.  And then they go and screw it up by hiring incompetent, under staffed and under trained third party vendors.

Put 40 years of experience to work for you

Hi Jeffrey: I am afraid that I have not yet made the acquaintance of the appreciation gods.

Hey Melanie: And you know many of the AMS negotiators never set up their Bank of America email, so when you email them through Equator, they don't get the email.

Hey Brian: I guess the number of closings is all in perspective, but there are agents in Sacramento who close 300 deals a year. So to me those agents are doing about 3 times my production, and that makes them a super star, not me. I'm not complaining, but I am also not on par with those guys.

Hi Chris Ann: Our griping is falling on deaf ears. We're just an inconvenient component of the market right now to Bank of America, and we will eventually go away to work with buyers (whose choices in lenders grow smaller every day but at least they still have a choice).

Please lady, stop selling yourself short, that IS super agent numbers.  And I love the family first concept... but I have to admit sometimes my "family" is a coworker, a cat, a dog, ect...

Good morning Elizabeth while your frustration is with short sales mine is with used car sales persons.  I'm in full blown car hunting and have put this day as my official hunting day.  These car sales people almost remind me of real estate agents:~).
