Sigh! Shoe Shopping Isn't So Much Fun Anymore! HA! Not For All Of Us
Putting your BEST FOOT FORWARD with comfortable (and safe) shoes.
Platforms??? I don't think so!
Men saw the "Thundering herd" of professional and experienced women climbing the ranks of management and decided to use the world of fashion to corral us.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HEY GUYS (bunch of guys gathered in the Men's Room), how can we stop them????
Well, we probably can't stop them. Keeping them barefoot and pregnant worked before, but no more. WE'LL HAVE TO SLOW THEM DOWN.
EUREKA. I've got it!!! We know women love beautiful things. We know women have a tantalizing sense of humor. Let's stock the stores and magazines with beautiful, tantalizing shoes that will SLOW THEM DOWN.
Great idea. Just watching them walk across the office in those shoes will make sure that woman won't get the next promotion.
Absolutely. A few broken ankles won't hurt either.
By the way. Those "comfortable" shoes in my image are Ferragamo loafers purchased
AT NORDSTROMS.
Yesterday, I made a little trip to DSW in Bethesda, which, after Nordstrom's is sort of shoe heaven. Well not anymore!
It seems as though every pair of shoes in the store, other than sneakers, were inspired by Lady GaGa.
The shoes at the right would be perfect with my goddess dress. It's a garment that is beautiful and that always fits. It's pale yellow, and with these shoes I would be a vision.
Yeah! A vision of a woman of a certain age lying face down in the street, having tripped over her own feet! My knee goes out of joint just looking at these, although they are pretty cool looking.
Many of the shoes on display would have been a real challenge even for our own Active Rain shoe maven, Kerrie Greenhalgh, although I'm sure she could get across a room with a certain amount of grace with these on her feet.
And these were by no means the most extreme footwear in their inventory.
OK, I'll admit it. These really did make me feel my age. I did manage to find one pair of navy blue pumps that I am able to walk in, although I do wish the heels were a ittle fatter.
In my next life maybe!
