Why Would You List With NO Picture? I Don't Get It.

As I'm sipping coffee and browsing through the new listings on the Fort Wayne MLS this morning, I noticed something a little odd.

There were 68 new listings in the last 24 hours.  Out of those 68, 8 of them were listed with NO pictures.

None.  Not even a picture of the front.  Instead, this image appears on all of them.

I'm no genius or Super Realtor® or anything, but if you are going to list a home, why not upload the pictures before you make it live?

Most Realtors® I know search the new listings daily, or at least browse through them.  A lot of times this is the only time they will see your brand new listing.  With no picture...  I bet they don't look at it too long.

Plus the public can see this.  In my opinion, you want to have everything ready when you list a home.  Including pictures.

I don't get it.

I don't get it either.  My thoughts are they are just too busy and therefore lazy (a reason they should list with me instead.)  they want to get it on the market fast and figure the photos can be added later.  Or they already have a buyer lined up and do not really want to show it.

I don't get why some agents don't put all 12 photos in. This is sales isn't it. Our MLS won't let a listing go live until there is at least one photo, but still...just having one photo doesn't do any good either. Strange...

I agree with you. It amazes me that some agents never put more than a front view of a listing. That is so unfair to the seller and to other agents.

That drive me crazy too. How hard is it to take a photo? Once your camera is out why do some agents stop at just the front? I like to take at least 30 photos. Our mls allows 15 so then I can rotate the photos every so often and look like a new place. Another thing that drives me crazy is when they use the past listing photo from many years ago.

Here if there is not at least one picture of the front of the home they are fined my MLS.  And what kind of agent only uses one picture OR no picture.  Simply ridiculous bad business practice.

In our MLS the listing is removed if a photo isn't posted within 24 hours.  That stops some of the worst violators but some agents just post a crummy picture of the front and call it a day.  Nuts.

Lazy? Untrained? Uncaring? And why would a seller stand for it. Even the banks we work for have a minimum requirement for the number of pictures - go figure.

Yeah, If there is no image, the people won't look at it that long. Adding images would be a great help.

I don't get it either - Surely there isn't such a rush to get the property on the market that listing without photographs is better than not listing?!

They probably turn in the listing package at the front desk and then send the emails to the secretary. Secretary puts the listing in and gets to the pictures later. Who knows.
