Oh No....I can't imagine a world without Hostess Twinkies.  What could ever take their place.

Ha ha - I ate my fair share of these as a kid. Mom would freeze them and put one in our lunch bag each day. Loved them. Until I got smart about nutrition - damn knowledge. As I told my 26 year old daughter - don't worry, twinkies aren't gone forever. In fact, everyone you've ever consumed is probably still living somewhere inside your body. Lol.

Tom: Some had a photo of the Twinkie at its funeral. It was a GIANT photo. My comment was "if they buried it, think of all the grave robbers who would come". I remember Twinkies way back when, before my metabolism slowed down, and my daughter's favorite was Ho Hos. RIP.

I'm having a hard time being too sad... I eat a Twinkie maybe once every few years and that's just to remind myself that I don't care for them very much (I keep forgetting, I guess). I saw someone on Facebook note that now that the end of the world could be nearing, the one food that could survive the apocalypse is going out of business.

Tom-From a business perspective it's really tough for me to understand how this is in the best interests of the union workers.

Love the picture! I haven't had a hostess product in years. Maybe that is the problem. At one point I tried a ho-ho, which I loved as a kid and it was too sweet for me. I am sad for the employees as I am with any business that fails, but I guess it won't make too much impact on my diet.

Tom, I've never had a Twinkie, HoHo, or whatever else the company produced so I won't miss the product. However, I think it's sad that so many people are going to lose jobs and especially before the holidays because the unions would not budge. I mean really, you can't transport Twinkies and Wonderbread on the same truck? Are they serious?

Hi Tom,

I'm coming over from Kathy's post this morning..your post is one of her Ah-ha moments and I definitely agree with Kathy!! Not sure how I missed your post..love the photo..don't eat them and know they aren't the best for you. Company has struggled for years with competition and the knowledge out there that you need to eat more healthy..hard to stay in business when your market share is dwindling and your workers are demanding higher wages and more retirement benefits.

Tom ~ You are the master at photo editing! I heard the news about Hostess, it's sad to lose the Twinkies, a childhood favorite. The employees will be the hardest hit.

Those Twinkies are still with me Debb? That explains a lot.

That's funny how metabolism changes our habits Hella.

I think the real sadness is for those that have lost their job Gretchen.

It does make you stop and think about the whole situation Wayne.

The employees seem to be the real losers in this thing Dana. Hope that things work out for them.

Collective bargaining isn't what it use to be Silvia.

Maybe this was just meant to be, sometimes change is good Dorie.

The news came as a surprise to me Diane, I thought things would have been worked out.

How about s'mores Janis?  :)

Thanks for the kind words Rebecca.

Hi Tom, love the photo and in fact, I always loved twinkies too, total comfort food, until they changed the formula of the creme - way to sugary, not creamy at all and I switched to RING DINGS!

It is not over yet, Tom. The hot news item not is that business interests are trying to buy the Hostess operation and get it running again. Time will tell but it is likely that your grandchildren’s grandchildren will be able to enjoy Twinkies just as you did.
