Preparing for the Holidays - Decide to be Polite to Everyone
After shopping for items to prepare a simple Thanksgiving brunch yesterday, I have to say that if I do not leave my house again until after Christmas that would be okay with me.
The traffic is horrific; parking lots are full; and people are behaving badly.
The Holiday Season is HERE!
I saw no one stop for pedestrians. I stopped to let people cross the roadway with their shopping carts and cars behind me were honking at me.
Grocery clerks were pushing people through the the checkout even though there was no real waiting in the line. The lady in front of me at Whole Foods was so flustered by the clerk she started to walk away without her wallet. I was patiently waiting for her to gather her belongings and put her bags into her cart thinking that she would come back around and get her wallet.
When the clerk started to ring my few items I stopped her advising that I was not ready because the lady in front of me was not finished. I then grabbed the wallet and gave it to the lady. If you could have seen the look on her face ... all I could say was "It's easy to get distracted during the hustle of the holiday season ... especially when we are being rushed through checkout."
I think that it is rude to rush people especially the elderly who tend to move a little slower and need a little more time. I also feel that it is poor customer service to rush people. It shows no respect or consideration. Everybody gets their turn.
Slow down and enjoy every moment of the holiday season.
Decide to be polite to everyone - even if they are not being polite to you. Spread joy this holiday season and be grateful.
Breathe - always remember to breathe ... we tend to hold our breath when we feel stressed.
Enjoy this holiday season. It won't be long before we will be preparing to file our tax returns which is a much better time to hold our breath.
