My Home Sellers Motives are Their Own and Not Your Business
All of us in the real estate business have had buyers ask why the seller is selling. I ask at the listing what the sellers would like me to disclose about their move. If they don't want anything said then I do not disclose. Being in a military market many of them want to share that they are being PCS'd so that fellow military will understand their situation. Whichever way they want me to answer is good for me. Every area and market can be different.

My Home Sellers Motives are Their Own and Not Your Business
My Home Sellers Motives are Their Own and Not Your Business. I do need to wonder what gives people the right to be so intrusive into other peoples lives? Actually it really is nothing to wonder about in this voyeurism age we live in and is not really the fault of buyers in RI real estate and elsewhere.
No, it is the failings of the society we live in to know where boundaries are in people's lives. With reality TV we are allowed in every which way into one another's lives. Honestly, it is not always right. At least that is my take on it.
So where might I be going with this 'at the moment speak'? When a buyer comes into an Open House or a home showing and asks the question "so tell me why are the buyers selling the house and where are they moving to" from me as the listing agent, i have a good and strong answer. I am happy to share with you all the information about this wonderful home I am selling but what my sellers motives are for selling the home are not part of that information.
Yes, it may take some buyers aback because many real estate agents do share more than they are at liberty to do about their clients with buyers. It is not right. However, most times buyers will say to me that no other real estate agent has ever said that to them before. WOW! And as I explain to them the reason I respond that way and suggest they put themselves in the sellers position... would they want their personal information shared by other people without care? Of course not they say.
I have never had someone not smile at me because it is all about the delivery of it. It is all about privacy and what is not your business. This is not reality TV remember, these are private lives of others. Please remember that when you are about to ask a question next time about a sellers motives for selling. If you can find it out on Facebook that is fine with me! It is just not coming from me! My Home Sellers Motives are Their Own and Not Your Business.
