Butterflies Retake San Diego Safari Park

By
Industry Observer with Retired

You know it's Springtime in San Diego when our fabulous Safari Park announces the opening of Butterfly Jungle. This year 30 different species of Butterflies are in the Aviary with 14 species of birds ( no worries, they  don't eat insects). This is a not to be missed event celebrating Spring. On this coming Easter Sunday, what better way to celebrate Spring than heading out to Safari Park and being a part of the fluttering magic of Butterflies

Cocoons from Africa, South America and Asia will all come together creating a natural diversity of species and colors ranging from pure white to crimson red to the brilliant metallic blue.

Thousands of Butterfly pupae  were received this year where entomologists at Safari Park have been working to make them hatch all about the same time. If you have never attended this event, you are missing one of the really cool treasures here in San Diego, Butterfly Jungle.

William, that sounds great.  My daughters absolutely love the safari Park and the Butterfly exhibit is always one of their favorites.  Both they and I miss the old train though.  The new tour just isn't the same.

This will be a great event, William.  I am just reading Barbara Kingsolver's "Flight Pattern" about the demise of Monarch butterflies (an excellent ready by the way), so it would e nice to see some healthy colonies of buterflies at Safari Park.

The last time I was at a Butterfly Park or exhibit was at Victoria Island, B.C.  (that's B.C.  like in "British Columbia" - not "Before Christ").  It can really be an enchanting adventure to visit with such winged majesty.
