Sunday Reflections - Keeping Calm and Coping
The last week has certainly been a very eventful week and I don't mean that in a good sense. When bad news reach us and get repeated in newspaper, on TV, on the radio, and in our social networking circles over and over again, it can soon become very stressful and overwhelming. It really can wear us out mentally. Some people get glued to the TV watching the same news over and over and getting more and more upset and worried.
It is one thing to stay informed and quite another to obsess or let the news get to us in such a way that it becomes a hindrance to our daily tasks and work. I admire my dog, when there is nothing important to do and there is no food to be had, you can find her in her basket taking it easy, snoozing, and totally relaxed.
I think it might be a good idea for us to learn a lesson from our pets in relaxation and coping with the things we cannot change. Let's give our mind a rest for a while, turn off the TV, radio, and don't listen to the constant bombardment of bad news.
Give yourself that mental break, relax with a glass of wine, sit by candlelight, take a walk - and take the dog with you - work on something that you enjoy like a hobby, or read a book.
Staying calm and coping may not always be easy but it is essential to our personal well being especially during stressful times!
Hope you are having a calm and enjoyable Sunday!
