How are your balcony railings holding up today?

With the warmer weather, tenants are spending more time out on there balconies; are your railings safe? It may be a good idea to walk your property to see what the conditions of those railings are like. A little prevention can go a long way in preventing injuries in an apartment community.

Great reminder Tom!   Those rickety railings scare me to death when looking at properties with buyers!  I'm sure Tromler Construction could take care of that too!!!

A little dog might get through that rail Tom!  Hey all, let's go out onto the deck and lean on the guardrail!

Balconies are definitely problem areas. Between weathering and poor quality, do-it-yourself repairs, I am particularly wary of these home features.

Very serious question Tom. To avoid lawsuits and injuries it would be best for homeowners and landlords alike to check out their railings inside and out! We just sold a home where the whole deck made me nervous to walk on.

Yeah, I think Tromler Construction could take care of the rickety railings too DeeDee.  :)

It has happened Jay.

It doesn't take much to fall through a railing that is falling apart like this Roger.

Norman - A little bit of repair and maintenance can go a long way in keeping the balconies safe.

If not this one, probably another somewhere else Sheila, I see this all the time.

Al and Peggy - If you are not comfortable in how a deck feels, it probably needs to be corrected.

Tom,

This is such an important post and railings/balconies should never be neglected. There have been so many unfortunate tragedies because of age and negligence by owners. This is an area that should never be put off until another time, because by then, it's often too late.

I hope you get featured.
