I have always loved owning a home with a pool, it just seems to be the crowning jewel for a family home.

There's something to be said about coming home on a hot steamy day and jumping in the pool for a chance to cool off.

I know that it is a bias that I have that is not shared by all others, but there is evidence that owning a Tallahassee house with a pool is a smart investment as well.

Our most current data shows that the typical home with a pool in Tallahassee is selling for $255,000, while the typical house without a pool is selling for less than $171,000.

The graph below shows that the average pool house has recovered to value that is 18% below values reached at the peak of the Tallahassee real estate market, while homes without a pool are still down 28% since that same time.

The experience to get you to the other side!

From what I have heard about pools (we don't have any) most folks that pay a premium for a pool have never had one.

Don't the upkeep costs generally outweigh the benefit?  Sometimes I sure wish I had one...
