Get ready to party in downtown Annapolis, MD on the 4th of July. The party starts at 6:30 PM with the traditional 4th of July parade. The parade will begin on Amos Garrett Blvd., West St., and then Church Circle on it’s way down Main St. to the Market House. Viewing is fantastic anywhere along the route...bring a chair though, or be prepared to sit on a hard curb. My favorite spot is watching the parade come straight on by sitting at Church Circle.
The Naval Academy Band will be playing at the City Dock beginning at 8 PM. You can be sure there will be one or two patriotic songs to sing along to.
The show that everybody comes for...FIREWORKS...will begin at around 9:15. A barge in the Harbor will be used, and almost any location around City Dock and Spa Creek will provide excellent viewing.
Parking downtown is always a challenge, and this year will be no different. The Annapolis circulator will be running between parking garages, and downtown, but the City Shuttle to the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium will not be operating.
If you’re watching the fireworks from a boat in the Harbor (the best place to be really), keep in mind that there is a 1,000 foot restriction from the fireworks barge.
Go early and get a good parking space. Shop and dine downtown...and enjoy the show.
