“Foodie Fridays” in Austin
This weekend promises to be a hot one in Austin with temperatures over 100 degrees the entire time. Sounds like a good reason to say it will be too hot to cook so how about taking your taste buds on a little adventure around the globe? At this restaurant, you can visit Italy, Mexico, China, France, Cajun country and of course, Texas and more without ever leaving your booth!
BAKEHOUSE RESTAURANT AND BAR http://www.austinbakehouse.com
At the Bakehouse Restaurant it’s Oktoberfest all year long. They have an extensive list of German specialties, beers and wines and you can enjoy it all in their biergarten. The food is all made from scratch at the Bakehouse so you get the very best taste. And, they will tell you what is in each and every dish if you are concerned about ingredients due to dietary needs. Some people come to the Bakehouse for their full multi-course dinner with appetizer, cocktails, entrée and a great dessert. Others go for the best burger in town. A sampling of what you’ll find at the Bakehouse: for an appetizer, how about the Smoked Sausage Crisp – sliced smoked sausage with swiss cheese and a dab of Dijon, wrapped in homemade dough and deep fried served with horseradish sauce. Or the Zucchini Tempura – lightly battered zucchini sticks, served with a horseradish dipping sauce. For a dinner entrée – there’s Cantonese Stir-Fry – nine fresh vegetables in a special ginger sauce with rice (add beef, chicken or shrimp), Jaeger Schnitzel – a pan sautéed schnitzel covered with rich Hunters sauce of mushroom, onion and burgundy and Moroccan Couscous – the national dish of Morocco – an aromatic mixture of curry, cumin and black pepper with raisins, black olives and garbanzo beans served on couscous (you can add chicken, beef or shrimp). To keep it Texan – there’s the Billy “Porkchop” Chedsey Burger – 3 lbs. of burger on a really big bun! If you can eat it in record time (11.5 minutes) they will name it after you! Remember, everything is bigger in Texas! Top off your meal with dessert – Mississippi Mud, Peach Cobbler, Deep Fried Custard or how about Sticky Caramel Crème Cake? Oh, the Bakehouse Restaurant is also open for breakfast where you can get the best pancakes in town or fresh hollandaise sauce on your Eggs Benedict and it’s served until 3p everyday of the week. They have a saying at the Bakehouse: “The Bakehouse is what you’re hungry for, when you don’t know what you’re hungry for”!
