What to do in Florida Keys?
1. The Rain Barrel – A Village of Artists located on 86700 Overseas Highway, Islamorada, FL 33036. In front of the building is a large Florida Spiny Lobster (Craw fish). It is a great place to buy your wonderful souvenirs of all kinds, shapes and prices.
2. Southernmost Point of the Continental USA marker at the end of South Street and Whitehead Street. A popular place for sweet memory pictures. It is about 90 miles from Cuba by sea. Tourists line up for photographs.
3. Ernest Hemingway Home at 907 Whitehead Street – home of the famous writer who had a 6 toed cat.
4. Key West Historic Memorial Sculpture Garden at Mallory Square, corner of Wall Street and Tifts Alley. In the garden it features 36 bronze busts of men and women who had the greatest impact on Key West.
5. Mallory Square - to see the gorgeous sunset and the free entertainment.
6. The Smallest Bar in Key West at 124 Duval St. Where people meet and have an inexpensive drink.
7. Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park at 601 Howard England Way, Key West, FL 33040. This is the home of America’s southernmost Civil War fortress.
Explore history inside the fort – built in 1845. Enjoy nature on the shady trail. See iguanas in the park. Fish, sun bathe, snorkel or swim on the beach and see spectacular views of the sunset in the evening.
8. Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center at 35 East Quay Road, Key West FL 33040. A place for fun and learning. Discover the “living reef” with Mote Marine Laboratory’s 2400 gallon aquarium and live video from the reef.
9. Sloppy Joe’s Bar and Retail shop at the corner of Greene and Duval Street started since 1937.
10. Key deer beside the highway US 41. It is an endangered species of deer that lives only in the Florida Keys.
11. There are many other things to do, like museums, boating, fishing, glass-bottom boat rides, kayak sailing, kite-boarding, parasailing, and paddle-boarding, scuba diving, water skiing, sunset cruise, etc.
