Well, of course I mean that in the nicest way. Have you ever searched on Google for yourself? Just type in your name to the little search box, hit enter, and see what you get. You might be very surprised!
As a Realtor, I like to see my Googled name produce lots of hits. This means that after I have met some great potential clients, they can look me up on the Internet and see that I appear many times in Real Estate locations. They will be able to see blog posts like this one and read about me to their hearts content. They will find out more about me and usually become quite comfortable working with me.
I Googled my wife's name the other day to see what would come up. She is allergic to the Internet, doesn't even have a Facebook account (Gasp!) and guess what? She still appeared. I will bet she does not know that she can still be found on the internet. She would not be pleased if she did know and I am not about to tell her! Being married 34 years I have learned when not to speak.
If you are in an industry where it is good to be known, Google can be your friend. For real estate agents it is imperative. We want to be found and we want to let the consumers know quickly who we are and that we are in the business. We want our websites to be found so that the consumers can use the tools we have to share. So the next time you meet an agent, get their card and Google their name. See all the places that come up, if any. Its a great way to see how active an agent is on the internet. Better yet, go Google yourself!
