This year I did not see as many butterflies. I wonder if this was the case in other places? So it was a pleasant surprise to get close to this Monarch Butterfly as it perched on the flower of a butterfly bush. With out spread wings it seemed so at home.

Jennifer, that is an INCREDIBLE picture! We are not seeing many butterflies or honey bees at all in our area like we once did!
Jennifer, we did not have as many butterflies here either, and wonder if it was too hot? They are so beautiful and add color to our gardens.
Jennifer, that's a great photo! I read an article recently stating that the Monarch butterfly population decreased by 75% this year. The scientists who study this are thinking that it is most likely due to GMO crops infiltrating the natural flora.

I have seen many butterflies in my own backyard but not like that one! It's beautiful and I'm glad it landed on your butterfly bush. Now that it knows where to go, I have a good feeling you'll be seeing more of this one and others too!

Jennifer now that you mention it I have not seen many this year either, but I did see a beautiful chocolate colored one in my front yard today.
