Appraisal fees in Hawaii

By
Real Estate Appraiser with Real Value Solution

Come on everyone, Look at the mainland and the prices for appraisals there . You will find that Hawaii is the most expensive. my question is why.  Cost of living in California is just as high, yet standard appraisals are $350.00  Some areas are in the 200s for a quick/easy condominium. I shopped most appraisers/companies on Oahu, Maui, and Kauai with the highest for a condo was $650 and the highest for a standard Single Family Home under a million for $775.00  If your a mortgage company, shame on you for letting that borrower pay that much. If you paid for the appraisal,  what are you thinking. There is a choice for professional appraisals in Hawaii that don't cost an arm and a leg. lets help the industry get back on track with great service, professional attitude, and low cost for the borrower. Look for fees under the $500 for standard 1004/1073 appraisals in The state of Hawaii. My staff is ready to work for you, Fast Accurate, and Professional Appraisal service on Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. Real Value Solution   Realvaluesolution.com $400.00 standard 1004/1073 on Oahu.

Come on Vincent,

If you are an appraiser in Hawaii, don't sell yourself out cheap to an AMC.

Why is the fee high here you ask ? Is it ? Consider the time and effort it takes to become an appraiser. You now need to have a college degree. Then 2-3 years training. A couple of months appraisal classes. A test that most fail on first attempt. 1-2 new appraisers licensed per year. A third as many appraisers that most other mainland states. Supply and demand.

And you think we should not get paid $500 ? A lawyer and doctor easy get a few hundred per hour. AND they don't have to wait 1-2 months to get paid, who does ? But we should be happy with $50 or so per hour ? A busdriver here makes $50000 a year. After a week or so training...

Check the link below. The most comprehensive Appraiser Fee schedule done to my knowledge. Standard fee in Hawaii before AMC's was around $500 - 550 for a 1004. Well in line with the typical fee determined for Hawaii in that list. Your fees are below. I would NOT work for $400. You should raise your fees and not spoil the business for all of us. Trust me, the AMC's will pay. Come April 1st they will have to.
